This is really to just to make P3N stop asking...

I recently did a full system upgrade. My old system was getting a bit sluggish, I was running out of HDD space, and I wanted to be ready for BF3. I replaced everything except my case (Antec 900) and DVD Drive (Samsung 22x Lightscribe).

It went together like a breeze (with REALLY GOOD CABLE MANAGEMENT TOO *facepalm*), powered right up, and worked perfectly from the beginning. System runs very cool, is plenty fast...I'm very happy. Planning on a further graphics card update in the future, but this will be fine for now. The hard drive is an amazing value at $65. Definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a HDD.

Mobo: Gigabyte LGA 1155 Z68 Chipset ATX
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 (3.1Ghz --> Turboboost 3.4Ghz) Quad Core
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 750w
RAM: G-Skill Ripjaw X Series 8GB DDR3 1600
GPU: EVGA GTX 460 SE (Fermi) 1GB
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 1.5TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 6.0Gb/s
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM

only 1 460?! you should upgrade to 2 560's or 1 570 or 580. i should make a video whenever i get around to my big upgrade, but i gotta get the cash first.

Edit: I just noticed ur cpu heatsink, you should really think about spending like $40 and getting a better heatsink, those stock ones are complete garbage for quad cores.

Good to see you'll be able to experience BF3. And man are those gfx cards getting big.

As far as the CPU heatsink/fan goes, I don't plan on overclocking for now and under continuous full load, the CPU only reaches 65C max.

um yea, 65C on the cpu is waaaaaaaaaaay too hot, safe temps for a cpu should never go above 60C. your cpu will die pretty quickly running over 65C under load

I'm with Krod here, 65C is way hot. Just something simple like this will do wonders for your temps. I'm running a just a CM N520 on my i7 860 and even OC'd to 3.6 I'm staying consistently below 50C running Revit renderings for hours at a time(all CPU, 8 threads fully maxed out from start to finish).
 
I'll look into something else for cooling. Thanks for pointing it out, guys. :]
 
For my 2 years old PC my results aren't that bad!!!

I'd have to disagree with Krod and forty. If you were using an old core 2 quad q6600 then 65 degrees would be roughly 5 degrees more than the maximum operating temp of 60.3 and could potentially cause some damage. http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_2/Intel-Core 2 Quad Q6600 HH80562PH0568M (BX80562Q6600).html

Where as the i5-2400 is rated for 72.6 degrees so 65 on max load should leave plenty of headroom And in theoy would last "forever" running at that temperature.
