They look like the Crimson Lance transport rockets from Borderlands...

Also:

During a conference at Gearbox Community Day on the 11th of June 2011, talking about upcoming 'Gearbox Labs', Randy Pitchford said it's a free add-on that will work with Borderlands One, further hinting at a sequel.

Then again, Valve has stated that meet the Pyro is done. They finished it before meet the Medic, actually.

There called Grockets because that is what they are called in the added files.

I like the HL2E3 theory... best not to get our hopes up, though.

You forget that Valve loves to troll the community. I don't think we'll hear anything about episode 3 this year (I hope I'm wrong though).
