In the past you've seen me make a lot of comments about DoD:S leadership, whether it be individuals or as a whole. Now, you might think you know them, but I can assure you that I've seen different sides of these guys than the rest of you have. I feel like you guys need to know the truth about our leadership, and now that I have my "O", I figure I'm finally safe to say whatever I want...
Spray - I can only imagine how laid-back this guy is in person. He says what needs to be said and leaves superfluous talking to others. Ask him a direct question, he'll give you a direct answer. He's shown Lord-only-knows how much patience with me, and he is a very helpful person. I make a comment on how much Minecraft is spazzing out on me, he tells me how to fix it. I tell him I need A, B and C for this scrim tourney and five minutes later he comes back with "Here is A, B, C...and also D."
jeod - The other day jeod told me that people thought he was a mean. I laughed at first, thinking he was kidding, but then he explained how he was serious. I looked into it a little bit, and I think there's a big misunderstanding. Being direct and straightforward as jeod is...it's not being mean, it's just being forthcoming and honest, and sometimes things are said that need to be said. Jeod has always let me explain myself when I came across the wrong way (you should all know that I frequently misrepresent myself, lol) and now I know why. True, there are times he's had to discipline me for things I have done, but at least he approaches you about things instead of just jumping your case.
Blue Stealth - Blue and I have had some confrontations in the past--this is no secret. I think it's just because we're both a little stubborn. No, that's not fair--I am stubborn, and Blue has a job to do as a leader. Blue takes his position seriously. Not in the "try-hard" way, but in the sense that if something is going to be done, it should be done right.
C-WHiT - Two things have always stuck out to me with C-WHiT. First, he is very easy to work with. Second, this guy has a sense of "servant leadership" at all times. Something goes wrong in Realism, he takes the blame. Even if it's something crazy like a storm knocking out the servers, or something he has no control over/is in no way his fault, he takes the blame. Things happened in Realism when I was CINC that were my own fault, C-WHiT and I were, if you could say, on opposing "sides" of the situation, and he still publicly put things on himself just because...well...that's just who he is I guess.
Greenlight Terror - I don't know Greenlight much, so I don't have a lot to say, but I do know that he has a good attitude and always tries to have fun and make sure everybody else is having fun too.
Boyle - Boyle was my arch-rival in Realism and...let me tell you...that was a very difficult thing. Try having Boyle be your arch-rival--it's darned near-impossible, haha. He's a genuinely nice guy and and so down-to-earth and seems to care so much. If you don't know Boyle, get to know him--he's much more than just eGO Advisor.
ronpaul - If I had to describe ron one way, it would be "passionate." He pours his heart and soul into things. He and I have butted heads on things and he's probably downright hated me at times...but he gets over it, or at least sets it aside and just goes about business. I pushed ron to a point none of you could possibly understand during Realism 4, but in the midst of this ron still sat me down, shut me up in an appropriate manner and corrected me where I needed to be corrected and supported me where I needed to be supported. ron has never sugar-coated things for me--not to be a jerk, but because he knows I like people to be direct with me. I consider this brutal honesty to be less spite and more respect--of which I regret I haven't shown enough to ron in return during some of our "battles."
ST0RMY - St0rmy is just a great guy. I've worked a lot with him and he has a great attitude. He sticks his neck out on things if he really believes in them, even if he's alone in this belief at first. This isn't a stupid, wreckless, YSD-like act, but it comes from something inside where he knows he's doing the right thing. Speaking of which...Stormy has helped me a lot in the last few months--even if it's only to say, in response to my gripes, "But what can ya do?" Then I laugh off how ridiculous I am being. Even when Stormy is having rough times himself, he puts others first.
Get to know your leadership. This is a no-brainer, but let me explain more.
Don't be a suck-up. Don't go and harass them on Vent/Steam and be a pain in their butt. "How was your day?! Oh wow cool!" No. Don't think they are too dumb to know what you're doing. I'd imagine that suck-ups get very old, very quick.
Don't be me. No, the proper approach is not to push them to their limits, and then see their true character. Leadership needs another YSD like they need another hole in their head. I have been something around here that I really am not irl, though I don't trust any of you enough to explain why I've been who I've been.
Just remember...they're just normal people...with normal jobs and normal problems. The only difference is that they have to do things that need to be done, and then deal with people like me, fighting them every step of the way in response.
