CPU Processor how to.

First of all, i want to say that im not a computer techy.

i went to see if my pc can run BFBC2, the results were that it failed according to Can You Run It. it says i need to upgrade into a new cpu.

so the question is does anyone the steps to remove and insert a new cpu processor?

first what brand CPU do you have? AMD or Intel?

But the basic run down is, open case, look for lever on HSF (heat sink and fan) unlock it, gently twist the hsf to break the thermal paste loose.

Once broke loose it should come right off exposing the CPU, Depending on the brand of CPU, there will be a lever you will pull up to release the pins or chip from the socket.

Then to replace, basically the opposite.

Put CPU in socket, lock lever down, place HSF over chip, making sure the retention brackets are clipped on, then lock down the HSF.

But there is alot more research to be done,

What kinda PC?
If its a name brand IE dell, compaq, HP, usually not worth replacing just the CPU.

What Socket is the motherboard, AM2, AM3, I5, etc..

Do you have a laptop? You can't upgrade the processor in a laptop.

If you have a desktop, you can check out the build guide in my signature, and just reverse the process for removing the CPU. It's super easy.
