I'm having an argument with someone and we can't seem to come to a clear consensus.

In my opinion, using skins in CS:S (or any game for that matter) which make the terrorists a solid bright red colour and same with blue for CTs provides an unfair advantage and can pretty much be classed as a hack (if you define hacking as having an unfair advantage over everyone else, playing the game as it's not intended to be played).

The character models are pretty much glowing colours which means you can see them from miles away and there's no chance of them camouflaging into any backdrops or anything. I don't believe this to be the way the game is intended to be played, and I would personally say it's unfair.

However my friend is claiming it's completely fine.

Opinions?

I would agree with you in a tournament. But as far as our servers during non-tournament time i don't consider it hacking.

Maybe hacking is the wrong choice of words, my argument is just that it provides an unfair advantage.

It's not a big deal or anything btw, it's just to see what other people think.

From what I can tell, it's wrong to class these skins as a hack but they're defined as a cheat.

Seeing as they're only primarily available from cheat sites, your opponents are unaware of the fact you have that slight advantage over them and they're banned from Gamebanana is enough reason for me to believe that they're unfair, at least.

In my opinion, I don't think it's fair, and I would probably classify it as a cheat. I mean, these skins let you clearly see everyone from practically anywhere. It especially gives you an advantage as a scout or long range weapon as you can easily pick people out from the background. But I agree with Tension, that the fact that they're banned from gamebanana is good enough for me.

If I remember correctly skins which gain you an unfair advantage over other players are not allowed, hence a skin which colours the team in red and blue will make them easy to distinguish.

I am not sure if this is not allowed but it certainly is distasteful and a little sad and pathetic to do such a thing. If you want to see the enemy so bad you might aswell download hacks and use them.

i used to play in a pub server that had an addon that made all the cts blue and all the Ts red. idk it helped a little but i found it tacky and annoying

Giving yourself an unfair advantage through the use of add-on's.. is.. in my books, at least... using exploits.

Having said that, it's impossible to admin since admins can't see what skins other people are using.

Having said THAT, whoever feels the need to cheat in order to gain a leg up in an Internet vidjah game in order to feel superior should maybe find a hobby or some real life friends.

Having said THAT, whoever feels the need to use hacks in the Jail server should be taken out back and shot. Although, a certain Hunter with a lower than average number of Eyes would argue that anybody who plays Jail should go through the same thing.

There are always going to be people using these skins, yes they are an unfair advantage but they are being used in a pub server, its not competitive.

I don't even think they are much of a boost up anyways, they are just the same people that are just brighter, doesn't really help much because without them you can see them fine, there isn't many places you can hide anyways.

Same with a scout with a laser on it, doesn't really help you cause if you just know where the scout points you know where the laser would too.

sv_pure will be on during any competitive events anyway I assume, and it is on any scrim servers.

Yeah, I know it's not a problem with sv_pure. And Spark has a point too, the advantage isn't huge or anything so it's not a huge issue but you know.

I'm Eyeless Hunter and I approve this message

i don't see using those a real big advantage unless they add seeing through walls as well. which they can do without hacks.
