Alright, well this is how it goes, i had a couple of headsets and none of the microphones work, so i went out and bought a new usb headset instead of the pink port headset, well after about an hour of fidgeting with stuff in the Sound and Audio devices, i finally get the microphone to work.

But now my stereo speakers don't even register that there even connected to my computer, it only shows my logitech usb headset, and Modem #0 Line Playback, which i do not know what that is, and when i unplug my usb headset, there is nothing else that comes up for my stereo speakers, and i am getting annoying that none of it is working.

Can anyone help me with my problem?

it sounds like your sound card in your mother board is failing or rather dying out on you. The best i know that worked for me is to run a disk defragment, then a virus scan, then a disk clean up scan and reboot your pc. Those 3 scans help flush any harmful bugs, cookies, viruses, malware, spyware, etc... that could be damaging the sound card / mother board.

.The minute you connect ANY usb headphones or headset then the sound is routed thru USB audio and not thru ANY soundcard.

USB headsets/phone were meant to be used where there was no soundcard.

You can set the soundcard settings to route music thru the soundcard to speakers and all other sound(speech in games/internet chat/internet phone)thru the USB audio.

First off, Langlois, way off base. Don't scare the guy thinking he needs a whole new board; this is a software issue. :)

What you should do is to look in your Sound controller, under the Control Panel.
Under that you should see two things (minimum). You should see "Speakers" and "USB-Audio" or something like that. The first one would be the Speakers that you are having problem with, and the second would be the USB mic and headphones.

When you unplug the mic and the speakers are left in, the Speakers should show a green check mark.
The same should be true if you unplug the speakers and just have the mic.

If you have the speakers plugged in and there is no green check mark, then that is the problem. Right click the picture of the speaker and click "Test".

Once you have done this, we can talk more.

okay, now i unplug other headsets no sound comes out through green/pink port, and my Stereo speakers still do not work. i am at lost on what it is
