Is you volume too loud? Can people understand you when you use the MIC

Often I hear people try to talk over their MIC while playing DOD and their computer speaker volume is so loud that it causes feedback over the MIC. Feedback is a terrible reality of high volume. Team play is definitely more productive if communication is a part of the game. However, feedback will cause others to want you to stay quiet. Let's face it, WAR is not a quiet event, and DODS can be an awesome experience with loud volumes. However, loud speaker volumes on your side directly influences the potential for feedback over your MIC. If you love to crank the volume, and you enjoy the full potential of communicating with your team, (or all) please consider wearing headphones! The use of headphones attenuates the volume so much that most MICs won't pick up the sound and bingo: NO FEEDBACK.

Be safe out there! Good Killing and may you die quick! (in the game of course!)

Thanks for the feedback, FF. Pun intended haha!

But in all seriousness, I do agree that players with bad mics (whether too loud, too soft, or with weird feedback), negatively impact the communication efforts of their team.

If and when you encounter these players, bring it to their attention and try to give them suggestions to fix the problem. If they ignore you or the problem persists, then let the admins know via admin chat (u => @chattext) and they can help to mute the player, if he/she is indeed disrupting his/her team.

Strange that you get feedback if the volume is too high. Feedback is generally the term for the obnoxious noise cause by the mic picking up what it sounds like through speakers.

Are you talking about things being echoed or real feedback? Because for real feedback to happen, there would have to be two people with open mics and loud speakers in order to make feedback happen.

That is why people should invest in a good headphones. Feedback=zero with headphones even with a crappy mic.

Jinn you are correct. More of ECHO from remote player with loud speaker volume

Jinn, you are correct. I used the term feedback incorrectly. Due to delays in transmitting voice in the game when a person with very loud speakers keys their mic you hear an echo of what just happened in the game (echo).

The solution to the problem remains the same.

* Turn down your volume if you're going to MIC a lot.
or
* Get headphones

Thanks for helping me clarify the condition,
