Me and a couple of my buddies are going this Thursday to the Charlotte show. It's our first Warped, and we were just kinda curious what to expect. We know the obvious:

-Show up before gates open
-Gratuitous amounts of sunscreen and water
-Draw-string bag to hold merch and money
-Tickets (derp)

Any major thing we're missing? Also, for those who have been before, got any cool stories?

Waterproof bag to hold your cell phone. Some bands (3oh3 and Big Chocolate at warped vegas) like to splash cool water on the crowd when it gets hot.

Stick with friends. I almost passed out from the heat in the middle of a August Burns Red mosh. Designate a time and place to meet if you plit up, preferably one of the air-conditioned buildings (UFC is following warped I think, so they have AC in their big ass truck) or one of the big rest-tents.

Beach towel. I wish I brought one because stupid *oopsies* like to spill *oops* where you have to sit in the rest areas.

Some way to secure your belongings. If you're a metalhead your going to want to mosh eventually, and leaving your stuff lying around is risky. Some people go to warped with stealing stuff on their to-do list.

Drink tons of water! I can't stress that enough, it gets SO hot. Be prepared to only bring the essentials though, as you don't want to leave your stuff just lying around. Only get in the mosh pit if you're prepared to be hit, otherwise stay to the side. Also, you're going to see people half naked, and a bunch of people smoking everywhere.

As for cool stories. I crowd surfed at the 3oh3 and August Burns Red shows, was pretty cool. I also met August Burns Red and had them sign my %50 off skullcandy headphones (don't buy these in the first hours of the show, if they don't sell well they jack the prices down LOW. It went from $90 to $45 in 2 hours) which unfortunatly my idiot sister snapped the adjustment, so I shipped them in for its lifetime replacement warranty.

I stood next to my sister while she freaked out about some weird gay guy from a band called Blood On The Dance Floor, whom she didn't stop talking about for 3 days.

In a mosh for some indie metal band a fight broke out and a guys skull got split open all the way across his forehead. He needed 2 people to help him walk properly to a medic, The band playing embarassed the guy who did it by saying "Who the **** fights at warped? You DO KNOW most of the girls here are 13 right? Who are you trying to impress? Now everyone, DON'T fight, but HIT EACH OTHER! Does that make ANY SENSE?"

This makes me want to go.

Warped Tour sounds alright but it has nothing on the festivals we have in England.

ACL and Coachella look sweet though.

I dislike you. :( I want to go to Coachella so bad. Heck, I'd settle for just a trip to England. Never been, way up there on the "want to go" list.

Be prepared to have your personal bubble burst and to have random people ask you to buy stuff. Last year I had a monk ask me to donate 10 dollars to something and in return I got 2 cool books that I haven't read and probably never will read or understand....

Most of the bands don't really appeal to me, but a few of my friends went here in MN and got some free hugs.

Bring some Coke or Gatorade too you can't just keep drinking water (although drink a lot) but you need some way to get your energy back also
