Sexy Beast's Top 15 TV Shows

Title: Archer
Network: FX
Status: Ongoing
Current Run 2009 ? Present

What is it?: The show follows the exploits of Super spy Malory Archer, voiced by the always amazing H. Jon Benjamin, along with his co-workers at the spy agency ISIS.

Why watch it?: This just might be the funniest show I've ever seen and quite possibly one of the the funniest animated shows ever created. The show is the brain child of Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, whose previous efforts include Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo. I can say that this show is miles better than both Sealab and Frisky Dingo. Do yourself a favor, watch Archer.

Title: The Thick of It
Network: BBC Four/BBC Two
Status: Ongoing
Current Run 2005 ? Present

What is it?: A foul mouthed British political satire where the worst enemy is the British press.

Why watch it?: There aren't many shows as smart as The Thick of It out there. The show is about a low ranking minister and his staff as they attempts to avoid ridicule from the press and getting yelled at by the party spin doctor...which is all but impossible. The real reason to watch the show, and the movie spin-off In the Loop, is the character of Malcolm Tucker. Who is the brilliantly written party enforcer/spin doctor. Though that's not to say the rest of the cast is poorly written, quite the opposite. This is one of the best written shows out there. If you can get a hold of the series, which is damn near impossible, then you need to watch it. If you can't, then the movie In the Loop will give you a pretty good idea of what the show it like. Also an American adaptation, being done by the shows creator, is in the works for HBO called Veep.

Silly comment: 'Half the people are here to see where you rate My Little Pony. The other half are here to see if you leave it off the list' Joking, joking

Good shows so far. I don't watch a lot of TV, so haven't heard of a lot of these (sorry). Archer looks interesting though - thanks.

Also: Walking Dead to be #1? ;)

lol, no My Little Pony wont be on the list. It would be a good joke though.

I know there are a lot of people who don't watch TV, which is why I did this thread. But yeah, I really should have put Archer higher on the list its brilliant. Also, no The Walking Dead wont be number one. The series started off strong and dropped in quality as it went on. Though I am looking forward to the second season.

Title: The Wire
Network: HBO
Status: Ended
Original Run 2002 ? 2008

What is it?: The show is a complex weave of relations between cops, politicians, and drug dealers in Baltimore.

Why watch it?: If you want a show to obsess over, than look no further. There really aren't many shows out there that demand a level of dedication to viewing than The Wire and that dedication is well worth it since this is easily one of the best shows HBO has ever done. If you have the time to invest and love cop shows...then the wire is exactly what you want.

rubicon-tv-show.jpg

Title: Rubicon
Network: AMC
Status: Canceled
Original Run 2010

What is it?: This one is about Will Travers, an analyst for a fictional New York based intelligence think tank. One day Will notices that the cross word puzzle clues in all the big ticket papers are the same. Suspecting this might be a go code for an intelligence operation he shows it to his boss...who promptly dies in an accident. From there Will attempts to untangle a massive conspiracy.

Why watch it?: *sigh* I wish I could blame you, yes you the person who reading this, for this shows cancellation...but I can't. It's a show that was never meant to be, its slowly paced story and lack of action doomed it failure, even AMC couldn't keep it afloat. There's no DVD release yet, but if your into the whole political conspiracy thing...then this is your show. Watch it and weep that there wont be a second season.

Breaking Bad has to be on the top 5! Or prison break ^^

Otherwise I think the list is rigged

I loved Rubicon, my mom, who also watched it went digging and found out that they actually only wanted it to be a single season show (the creator). I had them on recorded and watched it in like 3 days, really good show

Breaking Bad, or Game of thrones have to be on the top 5!

Yeah, they're both in the top 5. Anyway I'm getting off work now. I'll try to update once I get back home...before I go out drinking. If I don't I'll finish up the list tomorrow.

Anyway, here is something to keep people interested. 50K of casino cash to who can guess the rest of the top five. Breaking Bad and Game of Thones are on there. 100K if you can guess the next 6 on the list.

Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Dexter
Futurama
Office Space (UK or US)
Dr. Who

-edit- I want to throw OZ in there somewhere...

I hate T.V. and never watch any of it unless strapped to a chair against my will with toothpicks propped in my eyelids, but I have actually found one show that I enjoy and will watch regularly called "The Big Bang Theory."

I find this to be a cop-out. Sure there are some bad shows, but for the most part I think people complain about commercials and reality TV. I don't watch television, but I do watch shows on Netflix and Hulu, or DVD. There is plenty of great programming, its all just a matter of the way its delivered to you IMO.

Nope, it's just all too predictable and been done before. There are extremely few new good ideas for shows. I don't watch Netflix, Hulu, or DVD's either. I'd much rather be playing games where I can actually interact and have an impact on the outcome than just sitting staring at something someone else has predetermined and I have no interaction with. And I do mean multiplayer games online, because single player campaigns aren't much better than t.v. because it's all scripted to be the same every time, so even though you are interacting with it, it's still pretty predictable.

Im hoping Band of Brothers is somewhere on the list and possibly Louie

Walking Dead (Can't wait for this to start up again)
Game of Thorns
Spartacus
Misfits (Great show if you have not seen it)
Breaking Bad (Season has started off strong so far... Wonder where they are going to take it tho)

Honorable mention. Dexter. I really like the show and can't wait for it to start up again. You need to start watching it damn it!

I hear good things about Game of Thorns. I need to cheek it out.

Sorry to double post but really every story has been told is nothing new here.

But there are always people out there who can tell it better then we ever can, and that is what entertains us.

Anyways what you described really is what 80% of reality T.V is... Unpredictability
I say 80% because that 10% is for damn sure scripted (badly). To cut it short here. Reality T.V is killing good T.V IMO

im going for top 5

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
The Killing
Boardwalk Empire
The Walking Dead

edit- Does it have to be in order?
