I've accidentally typed www.edgegamers.org and it redirects me to the new one instantly :P
But I'll remember to type it correctly now.

I believe it was a legal dispute a long time ago, with a guy. And for us to use the edgegamers.org we had to have ads for his company or something. It's been so long since I heard about that. :s Bleh.

-Wikipedia
"Edge Games is a video game developer and publisher headquartered in Pasadena, California, known for the aggressive reputation of its chief executive and founder, Tim Langdell, in enforcing their trademarks relating to the word "edge". In 2010, Edge Games sued Electronic Arts for trademark infringement, but eventually settled, with Edge surrendering many of its registrations"

Sooooo..

yeah, read that one too..

I prefer the old url but if we need to switch then we need to. :)

Thanks for the update guys and +1 on the video, I like the idea.

The guy squatting on edgegamers.com wants $4900.

None of these changes would have happened if someone acted in good faith and returned the domains to their original owners or given us technical access to make simple changes.

We purchased EDGE-GAMERS.COM on July 23rd. Look who picked up .ORG and .NET on July 25th (who is). I have filed a complaint of abuse and domain cybersquatting for those actions.

All in all, we will be bigger, stronger, have complete control over our domain, and without restrictions of an already unenforceable contract.

Yea, Greed. I'm glad we are out of that nightmare, and we are free & clear to make changes as we see fit.

step 1, freedom...
step 2, world domination.

To be honest, I think it is pretty pathetic to be suing everything that has "Edge" in it's name (especially on the Internet), due to the fact he doesn't own or isn't getting any money from it. A example of how greedy some people can be in life.

I mean come on, I didn't even know of a guy named Tim Langdell OR "Edge Games" until I saw this video.

Like Mirrors Edge or one of the largest multi-gaming communities is going to ruin his "wonderful" name and brand.

Does this mean he is going to try and take ownership of the new URL? How do you avoid him attacking with edge in the name at all?

That is completely crazy and idiotic that some guy can attempt to take ownership over a common word like this. >...<

Interesting..

Well i agree, it does suck that about the whole agreement thing. I won't be able to go to the meeting. Actually... i don't think i can even go to the meeting even if i wanted to because i am rank "e" right? :/ well i hope you can keep us posted on what was discussed. :D

Clan wide meeting. So everyone is able to join (:

I'm curious why we now have a trademark frame at the bottom of the front page. It looks to me like some 'Edge Games' bought us out (which I certainly hope they didn't). I don't know why, but I'm mad. Honestly, I don't know why. This 'Edge Games' made us change our URL, and our .org? For an iPhone game? Sigh.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Use the new domain name and you won't see that.
