ok here are my computer info:
Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 491 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Monitor: Generic Non-PnP Monitor
Sound Card: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub

I need your guys help bcuz I know nothing boout computers so wat can I do or wat do I need to make my computer better? I can only get 125 fps on cod4 promod and my monitor sux I only get bout 85Hz and play on 640x480 res :( can u guys tell me wat I need to upgrade on my computer to make it better?
 
Any quad core processor will help a lot, the dual core just doesn't have enough output anymore. Depends on if you prefer AMD or Intel, but the i5 2500 is a great processor. And your video card is about two years old, so I would look at something like a GTX 460/560 or a 6950.
 
which is more impoartant to get first? will a quad processor make my game run faster?
 
u have an am2 socket type. plus idk if the company tattooed the parts as well. ur best bet is just build a new 1 like this 1 for $500. i would use ur hdd and c what type of ram it is like ddr ddr2 or ddr3. if its ddr3 then u dont need to worrie about buying the ram

What do you want your PC to do? If all you want is to max out quality settings on CoD4 then get a new 1080p monitor and a new-gen entry-level graphics card. That'd be very cheap and easy.

If you want to drop more change for other stuff, building your own rig is very satisfying.
 
Save your money, wait wait wait. BUY new monster. Thats all I advice you to do, because looking at your current specs, you will bottleneck meaning you get a fast video card, but cant use all of its potential because of your older CPU.

Its all up to you. But if I were you, save that paycheck, and invest in a gaming rig.

I know how you feel, but but I dont know anything about PCS, me too, I started like you. Believe me when you build your own PC you wont want to buy premade ones.

Another thing, if you buy/upgrade CPU and Video card, I would just start from scratch and get everything new.

New mobo, CPU, GPU, Powersupply, Case (IM pretty sure your HP is not big enough for large graphics cards nowadays.) RAM, HDD. Monitor, you can always get later on when your next paycheck comes around..
 
You got a HP, chances are you are limited by the motherboard (may not be compatible with many newer chips) and may not take much more ram. Your best bet is to research and see what kind of upgrades the system can handle. Price them out and compare it to the price of a new custom build (saving what you can from the HP).
 
Building a cheap AMD build is a great way to go. As ddily shown, it's quite cheap but very effective. It's a good investment.
 
if u want to just get a new computer tells us your buget and what u want to do on it. the build i showed u. u can play basically alot of games. i would just get new computer. i would save ur hard drive so u can keep the os and ur info. unless u have a bigger budget then i would say get windows 7 and a hdd. but idk ur budget.
