I've been moving more and more towards "meh" on Diablo3, I think I'll pass when it finally comes out.

The real money thing may make me skip it. It will ruin the fun of playing in my opinion. On to Torchlight II!

What greedy jerks! I guarantee what they're not telling you, is they get a percentage on every real money sale you do. Yea, I'm passing on this POS and getting TL2 instead.

It has already been confirmed that they will charge a "listing fee" similar to ebay I suppose. This listing fee is where they cash in.

At the beginning of diablo 3, this won't be an issue at all. 1-2 years down the road, this is going to ruin the game. People will figure out how to farm the ultra unique/rare items and no one will be able to obtain those items unless they pay hundreds of dollars for it.

Yea this is ridiculous... Blizz doesn't want to have to worry about gold farmers so they're taking them out of the picture by letting people sell things directly to each other for real money AND then taking a cut for each sale as well... Blizz figures, not only can they stop the gold farmers, they can cash in on the money the gold farmers would have made as well... and then, in the end, it will be pointless because instead of gold farmers, you're going to have rare item farmers...

All I gotta say is, thank goodness for Torchlight 2.

I have an excellent idea!
Don't use the player-run microtransactions store.
And I don't really care about mods.
The removal of the skill system is a bit annoying, though. Sacrificing customization for user-friendliness.

LOL! this is exactly what i was thinking when i was reading everyone's response.

its silly of you to think this will ruin the game. its not something you have to do. you have just the same chance to get the rare items as they do. if you dont like the market idea then dont use it. it doesnt ruin the game one bit, its just an added feature.............

the game doesnt need mods, and in my opinion, mods ruin games, because years down the road, everyone stops playing the actual game. look at CS and CSS and COD4 for instance, its hard to find a normal server with no mods and its literally impossible on 1.6 and thats a fantastic game ruined.

if your getting a game for mods then your getting it for the wrong reasons. thats like going to a fancy restaurant, ordering their best prim rib, then asking the cook for A1 steak sauce.

D3 is going to be good. blizzard has never failed at developing a game. everything they do, they do for a reason. and those reasons usually dont make sence until you play the game and give it a shot. everyone said cataclysm was going to ruin WoW? has it? and everyone said SC2 was going to ruin sc. has it? its silly to say D3 will ruin the franchise. history repeats itself with blizzard. (their methods are questionable, but the outcome is flawless.)

now im not saying mods are stupid, because ever since half-life almost 90% of our games came from mods and mods ideas. Im just saying if your getting a game because of mods, or your not getting a game because they dont support mods, then you need to rethink why your making the decision. because those are silly reasons to get or not get something. your basing your reasoning for buying the game on something that doesnt even involve the game in the first place.

There is nothing wrong with a little A1 sauce, you take that back. :(

Diablo was never actually big on mods in the first place anyway, now that I think about it.

I was so excited to hear any news about Diablo3. But after so lang time, I'm tired to be excited.... Who knows which news is real and which is not?

Mmm, A1 steak sauce. Now I want to cook a steak, and put said sauce on it. Thanks.

Yeah if you don't like the real money thing, don't use it. I already know I won't be and I'm quite ok with that. Just like I don't use the micro-transaction system when I...er...well ok I really don't play TF2 anymore but if I did I wouldn't use it there either.

The biggest thing to me is getting rid of the skills/talents. A lot of what distinguished characters was in that system...but at the same time what they are doing still sounds intriguing.

I'm with FudPex though, Blizzard has had me as skeptical as the next guy with some of their methods, but they have never failed to deliver. DII, W3, WoW, all worth the waits in my opinion. And so in 2 years when Diablo III finally comes out it will have been worth the wait. :P

Not to mention its not likely the entire auction house will only be real world money there will still be tons of people selling in game armor weapons and items for Diablo 3 currency. I expect only top grade super rare items will be sold for real cash and not many of the middle of the road stuff. I think its a great idea for players who want to try their luck at griding and getting that lucky drop and whether they want to sell that item for cash or use it to better themselves...

I don't get why people are so angry about the whole auction house thing to be honest. It's a way to profit from what is presumably going to be a "free" game as opposed to say... a pay to play variant, it's a good move business wise and it will even create an economy within the game itself for them to make even more profit off of just like some players do illegally now with the selling of the items/characters anyways. Now, instead of blizzard having to worry about these illegally transferred items/characters, they now control them and can sort out the duped items and bugged stat drops and all that nonsense that screwed up the economy in D2 in the first place.

On top of all this, people bought Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 for the gameplay, with or without friends. Solo players can still play solo and people who love to play together can still love to play together. The requirement for being online is a bit iffy, but it's nothing we aren't used to by now. They've changed nothing at all from my point of view to make this game worse than it's previous installments in the franchise, if anything, it's an immense improvement.

As for the skill system, yes, that I'll admit I was quite worried about but then I see all these other neat little customization features and I believe it will turn out better than the skill system after a while of playing around and whatnot.

Like someone earlier said, Blizzard has never released a game they weren't proud of and they have delivered on a massive scale every single time. I have no doubt in my mind that this game will be very good. The only thing that can ruin this game is the community and I highly doubt we're going to let that happen. :)
