No thanks to the BC2 weapon list, which doesnt tell you when you unlock it. Hope you newbs (like me) can use this to your advantage!

P.S

CSS IS WAYY BETTER!

actually the BC2 weapon page does tell you when you unlock each weapon, they are unlocked in order and they give you a little pop up menu thing ingame and outta game that shows how much xp till your next unlock

When you finish a match there is a tab called unlocks which tells you how much more xp is takes to unlock the closest unlockable weapon for each class.
You can also go to the weapons and gadgets tab in the main menu to tell you how much xp you have to accumulate with each weapon.

It also doesn't take much time to unlock all the weapons, by level 29 I had all the weapons unlocked for all the classes.

The best way to achieve points early on is being a forward medic and then once you unlock the G36, stay learning routes throughout the maps (it won't take much). Once you manage that either choose an aggressive recon or assault with smoke grenade kit and get a feel for life without a healbox around you, assault will net you more points (usually). After that finish off the rest and you'll be around 25-35 depending on how bored you got with some of the weapons/kits.

I highly suggest using the G3 for the engineer until you unlock the Uzi or UMP45/PP2000 with 4x on it. It's just "better" than the other guns.

Other pointers for leveling in BC2, if you think you're gonna die by doing something... you are. Especially if myself or bmonk3y are around, we'll personally see to it. Point being that you should (ab)use cover constantly and if possible create cover via destruction. A good implementation of this is for aggressive recons to use their mortar/C4 to disrupt the cameras and terrain of their enemies providing them just enough time to slip by in the confusion and possibly net quite a few kills, I think my record is an 11-kill mortar strike now, I'm sure someone's done better though.

Also, don't take a vehicle if you dunno what to do with it. If you want to learn the vehicles, use Heavy Metal and start with tanks then have someone that knows how to fly try to show you how, it's a god-send to have people help with that sort of stuff, trust me.

TheAngryPanda mind teaching me how to fly a heli?
The only heli I can fly is the small UAVs

I didnt get a single word of that :(

Go into your Controls in Options.

If you prefer flying with two hands on keyboard like me:

Under the keyboard column, you will see an "Up" and a "Down". Switch them around. So that "Down" is where "Up" used to be and vice versa.

If you prefer flying with left hand on keyboard and right hand on mouse:

Do the same, except change them under the Mouse option. I still have not figured out how to get the key sensor to recognise that I'm moving the mouse UP and DOWN. :cursing: That's why I stuck with flying with my keyboard.

Memorize the movement keys, then practice. A lot. Preferably on an empty server because if you waste a chopper by flying it terribadly, people will be annoyed.

I'm with iEye, if you can't fly a helicopter or drive a tank. DON'T!

p.s. is it me or is this thread kind of off topic?

Not off topic at all, he asked for pointers on vent a while back and we're providing them here. :)

And i'd be more than happy to help you learn to fly assuming we ever find a more or less empty server together.

Im like decent at tank-driving but helicopter is one of the bad parts of me

Just gotta practice. Find an unranked, empty server.

Start with the transport choppers. They're easier to fly. When you get comfortable with manoeuvring it, move to the attack choppers.

I find the US Army choppers easier to fly and land.

Press C when youre trying to land or take off. helps not hit anything when you fly in 3rd person (i always fly in 3rd person for the Blackhawk) Apache is the fastest heli, blackhawk is average, and the heli in the last defesnse area in Isla Innocentes map is the slowest/hardest to handle
