Getting the Nintedo 3DS?

I actually pre-ordered a Nintendo 3DS one month before it was released. Then 2 days before I was released, I was able to test it out at Target and played it for about 20 minutes. To me, it just seems like a hologram and the 3D doesn't even come out flying at you like I thought it would. The next day, I went to GameStop and canceled my pre-order and received my money back. I've always been a Nintendo fan, it was the first game system I played when I was 5. I played Mario on the Nintendo 64, got the GBA when it came out, and got the DS when it game out. I was always a big Pokemon fan and Mario (obviously).

Now, after finding out that the Nintendo 3DS has a price drop from 250$ to 170$ I was thinking of getting it. Along with that, my old DS broke, I haven't played Nintendo system in forever, and some pretty awesome games are coming out including Super Mario Bros 3DS and Mario Kart. What are your guys thought on Nintendo 3DS? Also, list some thoughts on the Playstation Vita, I was going to get that too but I've never tried the PSP before and I own a PS3, so it's like half and half.

PS: Don't turn this into a war between the two system, I don't want this thread closed, I want your opinions!

I don't think the DS has anything that has ever made it worth buying. I don't want a full-depth game on a portable console, thats what home consoles are for. Portable games should be short and sweet and easy to pick up and put down, which is why the game boy advanced is golden right now, especially sense all the games go for dirt cheap.

Rukus, I was tempted to list off all the games I really liked on the DS and ask why you didn't like them, but everyone likes different games. Advance Wars Dual Strike and Panzer Tactics are my two favorite on it for example.

As for the 3DS I like the idea and the price drop justifies the purchase. I haven't seen anything on the 3DS (except Ocarina of Time) that really catches my eye. And as I get older I have found that I can't justify spending that kind of money on entertainment stuff anymore.

The one person I do know that has one just plays DS games on it and turned the 3D off a long time ago (it hurt his eyes). Give it a year or two and I think as we see what comes out for it we'll know if it's worth it or not.

I like the look of the PS Vita, but any hope of me purchasing it depends on whether or not Monster Hunter Portable 3 gets a North American release. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it's going to happen at all.

If you end up getting a 3DS, be sure to tell us about it. A lot of it will depend on the games coming out and to be honest I'm just not following them.

3DS had good games coming out...then some of them got cancelled and the rest aren't coming out for awhile D:
Still, there's going to be reason to play it soon enough, with the new games coming out for real.

It is/was 250, it's going to 170.

I was under the impression that a bunch of third party developers signed on to make games, but they didn't have time to finish them, and because of this there were so few launch titles. Because there were so few launch titles, let alone good ones, hardly anyone bought a 3DS. Because hardly anyone bought a 3DS, the third party developers who didn't finish their game as early as everyone would have hoped decided to cancel their games, or not start making new games. Because of that, Nintendo's dropping the price to get more people to buy the 3DS.

Basically, the 3DS could have waited a little while before releasing and this problem could possibly have been avoided.
Also basically, third party developers are cancelling their games which could possibly make the 3DS sell because the 3DS hasn't sold yet.

I honestly disagree with you on your first sentence, I couldn't disagree anymore. TBH, there's a lot of games that was made "worth buying" but if you don't enjoy it/like it, then that's your opinion.

I know theres good games on the DS guys, but the only good ones I've ever played are n64 ports or games that already have editions on the GBA. I had one, my sister has had 2, and I always found most of the games gimmicky.

Also Kingdom Heats 358/2 should have been on psp as well >:/ oh well, at least I played it.

Yea I would've totally bought the system just for Pokemon. The 3DS need games that are going to fill the months before the holiday because they're saving all the good games for holiday/winter.
