I enjoy a decent amount of the music from the Halo series, same goes for the Mass Effect soundtracks. EVE online's soundtrack is also fairly good, especially considering you get 70+ songs with the game, most of which are over 5 minutes long

I'm a big fan of Zelda: Link to the Past. Great music in that game. Final Fantasy VI and VII too. Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Halo 2, Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World round out the list off the top of my head.

Recent favorite is the soundtrack off the Indie Game Frozen Synapse.

My 2nd favorite to battle to is the Killzone 2/3 soundtrack which is also epic in its own right.

Yes, despite how much I love the Metal Gear Solid series, which you may or may not have known, the music doesn't really stand out to me.

and finally, no other full orchestra in gaming will move you like the elder scrolls series. when i first heard the opening title to oblivion, ahhhhh.. and the skyrim teaser trailer? speechless

i'm going to guess parapa the rapper and guitar hero doesn't count? lol

Brutal Legend has a pretty decent soundtrack. My favorite soundtrack would have to be FF3 or The legend of Zelda A link to the past.

I feel like the Zelda: OoT soundtrack always has and always will be my favorite game soundtrack of all time. I can just turn it on and get lost. I'm there in Hyrule. So many varying styles that all join. Koji Kondo is a genius. Some of my more recent favorites, however, have come from indie games, like Super Meat Boy and Aquaria.

I find a problem with the term "best". There are so many fantastic games and corresponding soundtracks that are all so different, I can't deem one "better" than the other. Music is music; if it sounds good, it sounds good. I know I'm being all open-ended and everything, but hey, music and audio are my career path, I take it seriously.

Also, I would link to some of the OoT music, but if you haven't heard it by now, you should be slapped.
