USB Problems

Hey guys,
Just did a rebuild with a new CPU, mobo, and RAM. Everything went smooth and has been working great except for the USB. Right of the bat the drivers kept saying they didn't install correctly for the "USB controller." Then, after I manually installed them through the menu for the disk, it worked for a while. But now, at random times, and usually mid game in League of Legends or COD4, my mouse stops working. As in, no connection, power, no anything. And, when I boot up, my keyboard kinda flashes the LEDs and has no connection till I unplug it and plug it back in. Any ideas? Thanks!
 
Sadly, you may have gotten a bad mobo.

Are they remotely located USB ports, or are they the ones that are built into the main panel on the mobo? If they're remote, then the panel may be bad, if they're built into the mobo, then the mobo may be bad.
 
Both of them. I have tried both, and they work perfect until a random time. Also, the flickering LEDs are not every time. This is all random.

which USB ports are causing problems? front IO panel, back end, or both?

I have had the same issues with my rig in the past... what keyboard are you using, I'll assume Razer. And you have to unplug the keyboard and plug it back in to initialze it. I will also assume your mouse is Razer.

delete all Razer software. it is the only fix for this issue that I have found to be succesful.

the mouse and keyboard will still function.. but as plug n play devices instead of software based.

( my Razer Tarantula has given me the same issues you have stated.... though infrequent, I had the Razer mouse issue aswell ) ... I just did a fresh install of Windows and left out the Razer software, no issues since.

I have a Logitech G5 mouse and a g15 keyboard. And it is all USB ports, from what I have found so far.
 
what OS are you running?

try either updateing the Logitech software or delete it altogether.

I assumed Razer as it has a known issue with OS incompatability. However, I did a little searching and found this to be a semi-common issue with some Logitech hardware/software


ALSO.... make sure USB 2.0/2.1 is enabled in your BIOS.

I'm running vista and I went into my BIOS and there was no enable USB option. Just uninstalled all the Logitech game software and it didn't work. Mouse and keyboard still just disconnected during the middle of my game.

Don't know why it wouldn't have happened sooner, but I called newegg and they said they would just allow me to return the motherboard and send me a new one. So, I'm shipping it out tomorrow and should be getting a new one soon. Will post with updates, thanks for the help guys!
