WoW still losing players

Article is a meh. Most people already knew that the population was slowly declining. But it picks up again whenever Blizzard releases a new expansion or content upgrade, like the Firelands for example. It'll be holding steady over 11Mil until SWTOR comes, and even then, WoW will still have millions of subscribers.

If anyone's hoping that WoW will die off, the only way that'll happen is if Blizzard decides to shut it down.

I don't think the WoW community will take a huge hit. Like the article said 300,000 losses over a year isn't...bad? Especially when you're talking 11 million subscribers. Over the two year stretch its been 1 million people in losses. So, who knows. I know ArenaNet will deliver on GW2, when they promise something to a community they will do it in the best possible way. I haven't been keeping up with SWTOR but lets hope it survives the hype that other games (especially recently) haven't been able to overcome, which it should.

WoW wont be toppled, but I still don't like it.

I also think SWTOR looks incredibly boring.

GW2 I'm on the fence about.

I think SWTOR and GW2 will start the inevitable downturn and death throes of WoW.

The real nail in the coffin will be the "Titan" mmo project that Blizzard is working on. Thats where all the original developers of original WoW went to develop and left WoW to the new devs which in my opinion have ruined WoW.

Depending on what Titan is and what its like it could be the thing that will kill off WoW.

Blizzard has already stated its a next gen mmo and is not related or occur in the Diablo Starcraft or Warcraft universes.

Considering how long WoW has been operating at this point, how plausible is it that Titan is basically WoW 2? In which case, this prediction would be spot-on, I'm sure!

Blizzard has stated multiple times that Titan is a new IP and not WoW2

wow has been free for a good 5 or 6 years. you just gotta play on one of the dedicated servers people play on. amyways, you can only play 1 game for so long until you get sick of it.

how is setting up your own server piracy? because your not paying the monthly fee?

web police take the fun out of everything.

Not all of the original WoW devs work for Blizzard anymore. Arenanet has a decent amount of them and I believe the Founder of Red 5 Studios (Developer of Firefall) was one of the leaders of the WoW team back in '05.

Like I said before, WoW's not going to die until Blizzard decides to pull the plug on it. GW2 and SWTOR won't kill it off by taking a large chunk of Blizzard's subscribers. They will take a fair amount, maybe even a few million, but that'll still leave Blizzard with over 9M subscribers. The new IP Blizzard's developing won't kill WoW immediately; Blizzard will eventually phase it out in favor of the new IP to be their new cash cow.

@OrangeKun- In regards about the devs, if you want to get technical, Boo-Yeah meant to say the remaining original WoW devs were all moved to the new IP. Layoffs and resignations happens, that's business.

It's also illegal and against the contract that people sign (EULA = CONTRACT). There's a reason why you have to scroll through the entire "document" before you can click OK. And any posts made on these forums about a "private server" for people to use will be removed immediately, and the OP warned. eGO does not condone illegal activity on its forums, such as piracy.
/discussion.

Indeed, though I was also insinuating that with much of the minds from the original team in places other than Blizzard now, even if Titan turned out to be "WoW II", it wouldn't necessarily guarantee that the new team could capture the magic of what the old team did.

Either way, WoW's not gonna die from anything except for one title: WoW

Any other source is pure speculation and is borderlining on a straight troll.

I didnt know out was illegal. I hate the game and never looked into it. just something I heard a long time ago. Makes perfect sense though.

Wow's probably going to stay at top a very long time, but that doesn't mean it's "the better" mmo with the best features. It just means more people play the game. People seem to misinterpret that when it comes to Call of Duty as well. (And I'm not saying that because I'm in the battlefield division :P)
