Quake, Rage, Fallout & Skyrim items coming to tf2!!

I am in love with The Anger.

Wat. Brink has no bad guys. Both sides are fighting for legitimate causes.
I do believe you mean "A sniper hat that looks like the Anger headgear for the Resistance in Brink"
If anything, the security looked kind of evil before the game came out.

This makes me wish my brother didn't tie me down by also wanting Skyrim, Brink, and FO:NV and buying them on the 360.

I originally thought it was rage, and i meant the bad guys in rage. Then i was told it was brink, and just changed rage to brink.

eh? :confused1: How is it greedy for a company selling games to sell games?

The only reason these items are in TF2 is because Valve is going to get a [higher] percent of the profit of the games sold until the 7/8. Its not because they love us. It's to earn more money for themselves.

I pre-ordered skyrim before August 8th, but not over steam... will i still get my stuff?

Because Valve doesnt have enough money as it is, seeing as they made one of their greatest games free to play where it usually gave them millions of dollars via purchasing, plus they freaking own steam so either way they'd get part of the profits of the games.

Its a damn promo. They aren't greedy, they want to get other people to play these games.

So much this.

How dare a company make money!

I got Fallout in My TF2,

*hugs Pip Boy! Now if only my rads increased in the green kool-aide lake of Black Mesa.

I decided to buy the Doom and Quake pack because I didn't own any of the games and wanted a part of history. I'm now the proud owner of a Genuine Original. I haven't been able to test it out though because I've been having too much fun with Doom. I've had more fun with Doom than I did with the Brink trial.:)

Like they need any more...they've made so many multi-million dollar games I don't understand why they are trying to horde even more...maybe Gabe might take something from the owner of the company he used to work for, and give something back to the world.

Because Valve doesnt have enough money as it is, seeing as they made one of their greatest games free to play...

...and added a store feature so some of the new players can go buy all of the items for $100. What's more, $10 and getting item drops, or $100 buying the items? They're making more money now than ever.

they freaking own steam so either way they'd get part of the profits of the games.

I included "higher" in the original post. Of course they get some profit; silly Noise! :P

Valve made most of its games before without all this extra promotion, what's the deal now? I'm not saying they don't need money to produce future games, but I think they're also lining their pockets. I don't even want to hear someone tell me to quit TF2 over it, either. I love the game. I just don't like where it is going.

Really, it all goes back to the fact that the people with money are always the ones that profit. If I had hundreds or thousands or even just ONE hundred dollars to spend on games a month, I wouldn't complain at all. But I don't, I don't have a credit card, and I think this scheme is putting those players out in the cold. On that note, any word on whether these items will be craftable after the 8th?

(COUGH)Activision.

In what way is this putting those types of players out in the cold? The only item that even remotely makes a gameplay difference is the Original and if the past is any indication it will be craftable after the promotion.

Not entirely sure if I want to buy Quake IV for The Original.

Anyone know if people still play online in Quake IV?

I must admit that all the promo stuff tied to TF2 gets old but at the same time I applaud them for their business model XP I have just come to accept that this game will always be this way and that all these things are just that "Promotional" and "Cosmetic". For me it just gives me that little push to grab a game I was interested in already.Would love to see a TF2 Original Loadout Only Server to play sometimes. Just to play in the glory of the original look and balance of the game.

With all the money Valve makes these days with the success of MannCo/TF2 and Steam, it would be great to see more original new titles. Maybe a new source engine in the making? Wish they would get to giving us some info on HL2 Episode 3 :(

Will admit the Pip-Boy looks great on the engy especially with the gunslinger equipped with it XD So at least already owning New Vegas was just a hey thanks for the bonus.

When all is said and done I still think Valve is one of the top game developers out there with some of the best on-going game support in the industry...

Rant Off*

So... what you're saying is that because Valve is rich and you are poor, they should just give you everything for free? That's no different than the bums on the street that hit me up for money every week.

Valve is a company. They are in it to make money, and they've found a business model that works quite well for them at the moment. So what if they're using their most popular game in years to promote other games? It's a brilliant idea and I applaud them for it. As somebody else pointed out, these promo items are sometimes just the push that somebody needs to pre-order a game that they are already interested in. Or it's the push that somebody may need to order a game on Steam instead of purchasing it elsewhere. As far as I know, none of these promo items that you get for purchasing other games even have added effects, meaning they play just like the original items they are replacing.

If you want to complain about not having money to buy games so that you can get these promo items, my only answer to you is: get a job. Just remember, we're talking about TF2 here and not Pokemon. You don't have to "catch them all."

And on a more related note: does the pip-boy look different on the Engineer's model? The only difference that I could tell from the TF2 wiki was that your build menus were green. Anybody got a better screenshot?
