I've heard rumours Valve are birthday presents ninjas. So you may be correct its your b-day presents!

That must mean on they week of January 1st there is an insane influx in hat drops.

Yeah I've found 3 hats in the last week( 3 Demo hats). I only found 2 hats before that, & that's playing quite a bit since the hats were released. I'm thinking they upped the drop rate for hats or something...not that I'm complaining or anything.
