Do they have like a guide to getting weapons or is it just random?

100% random. Though ever since trading it's not much of a concern because people generally will do 1:1 trades with any weapon you have for a spare of theirs. In other words you don't really need to worry about not being able to get weapon except the really recent ones, and even that dies down after a week or two.

Oh, forgot to mention you can craft most weapons too but it's may not be worth it.

It is just random drops that happens. But if you want to pay real cash you can go to the store and buy the weapons you want but since it is a free game and you can find the stuff for free I would advise not doing it.
