How do you feel about Minecraft server resets?

I'm done with minecraft for the most part, getting tired of the resets.

A large part of Minecraft is being able to build whatever you can think of pretty much. When you put numerous (100's for some people) hours into building something, and then have it removed can make anyone angry. It is nice to have fresh starts sometimes, but if you know that eventually you might lose what you have been building, then what is the point in putting time into anything.


Now I know some people will say "part of Minecraft is starting over". That is fine and good but it is a small part for the casual player. Minecrafaholics don't want to start over. They want to build the giant castle that will take weeks, maybe months. They want to build the underwater city with working toilets and pillars of fire. Trying to build all of this with the thought of "it could all be gone" will make most lose interest.

Then there are people like me, who just play to go spelunking...........OH LOOK DIAMONDS!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm annoyed that i lost all my stuff, in this summer holiday I have spent days on my house and a project. and it has made it think of stopping playing, but I know I will come back and start again. I'll just have to think of it as a rouge-like, see how much I can build and create before i die and it is all destroyed.

I am almost set on not playing Minecraft on eGO server anymore. I am tired of having resets and losing all my hard hard work

The resets are why I stopped playing, my super-constructions tend to get reset just before completion.

Resets will need to happen, but the problem is the resets keeps happening too frequently.

And then theres advisors and upper who can spawn stuff - but thats another disencouraging factor.

It's pretty discouraging to me. I recently just started playing Minecraft and to see all my work disappear is heavily making me question if I should play again. I also think a huge factor is how much time you have to play the game. If you're casual and don't have much time to play the game, you don't want to see your progress disappear so rapidly. However, those who have plenty of time wouldn't mind because they can build fast, right up to their former glory in a short period of time. Of course, this line of thinking can easily be contested.

Additionally, even though I have no say in it, I disagree with the new rule of no machines. A few people mention that it's exploiting, it's cheating, it hurts the economy. However, I'd have to strongly disagree with all those assertions. I think the capability of being able to build machines is a great function of Minecraft. Those machines are crafted using Minecraftian physics and out of the box thinking. It's simply one of the things that makes Minecraft great! Furthermore, is the fact that ANYBODY could make these machines as they are extremely simple to make. Please keep in mind that I'm not trying to contest the rule, simply respectfully disagreeing with the decision that was made.

We've had another map reset today and I'm wondering if it discourages you from joining the eGO server or motivates you to build again.

If you could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make reliable FULL backups, I'd be much happier. I don't like it but that's life and show me something that isn't impermanent. So yes I continue to build because you get knocked down 7 times but all that matters is getting up 8 times

lost intrest in mine craft because of server resets.
I understand why they are needed and why this happend but still not happy that another 100+ hours work is down the drain.
This was a forced reset and is a bit more understandable.
previous resets have not been.

I play on my the server my friend and i own and that is solely because when i first played on eGO's server we had resets. I just got tired of building and then having to rebuild and so forth.

Discouraged. I don't wanna really Play MC. Maybe it'd be nicer if ALL players can spawn items. After all, is this not a building world?
