Ok just the other day on donner, this guy was doing amazing. We'd shoot him in the head but his shots always seemed to register first. We couldn't figure it out at all untill a pub added the guy on steam and learned his secrets. Apparantly they guy did something in his console to, as i said, make his shots register first. I'm worried about this and i personally thing its an unfair advantage. I'd appreciate it if some leadership could help me out on this.

any commands that help your shots register better is not against the rules. All that players are doing with rate commands is correcting for discrepancies between the player and server, caused by lag.

Our servers will almost always automatically ban a player if an illegal console command is entered.

alright just checking. and compton its not just that. i tried this stuff out because i heard from several people in our clan that it was totally fine, and my kd still isn't amazing. it takes skill and good rates to do something like those guys.

you're probably entering 100 or 101 as your rates on our servers. It needs to be 66, or 67 as our servers are 66 tic, not 100.

I notice a slight difference between whether or not I have a 101 to our 66 tic server or when I have a 67 to our 66 tic server. It is more responsive on the 67 than the 101. I feel that when it is higher, there are more signals going to the server than the server is accepting, so you have a loss of information from the computer to the server. However, that might just be me.

Also, Sonic, there are more things that you can change to the config, and no two computers, networks and servers are the same. You have to play around to see what settings work for you the most.

And of course it does come down to skill in the end. ;)
