One-Stop Everything You Need To Know About BF3 (and eGO's plan) -Continuously Updated

Yeah the game is being designed for PC, then ported to console unlike every other game that is made for console these days, and then ported to PC.

If your computer supports it, definitely get BF3 for PC!

Do you guys think that a ATI 5870, i7 920 and 6gb ram is good enough for this game ? Please advise

You should be fine. Maybe get 1 more stick of RAM? but other than that, i7 is great, and the 5870 is good too.

I've heard that the alpha ran almost as well if not better than BC2 for some people, so I think you're good to go.

thanks, hope it runs fine. Ill get another 5870 and add 1 more stick if I cant run it at max which I really want too.

Yes.

These aren't official, but are expected to be similar to the official requirements:

Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3

* OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
* Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
* RAM: 2GB
* Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card.
* Graphics card memory: 512 MB
* Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

* OS: Windows 7 64-bit
* Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
* RAM: 4GB
* Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850
* Graphics card memory: 1 GB
* Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

its funny that that 6850 is actually the same as 5850 and 5870 in every way except a few points, the 5000 series is still the best ATI cards out there, the 6000 was just a budget card series introduced by ATI to cut into Nvidia's share of the market.

This would make a great sticky. Anyone agree? ;)

We shall see on the sticky. Since stickying it will throw is at the very top whenever a new post is made it may get forgotten (hard to think about I know) where as unstickied it will just chill right at the top of all the other non-stuck posts.

^The reason why I didn't sticky it. After a few weeks I'll probably leave it stickied until released.

Answer.

You definitely don't need another stick of RAM. 6GB is more than enough to run a game .. it'd be your video card if anything that'd keep you from running it on high.

I think one 5870 should atleast let me run it on high setting, maybe not ultra, I might just need to tone the aa down a bit.

I have the ability to run BC2 on full settings, but I run on a mix of medium and high so that I dont have to risk any lag. But honestly, I dont see a huge difference between high and ultra, let alone medium and high. Only settings I have on high are draw distance and texture. I have medium for everything else, so if BF3 runs like BC2, I think you'll be fine.

fingers and toes are crossed lol

I think the coolest feature/info I heard was how support has a great way to rack up points. You don't have to hit enemies, just the spray of bullets whizzing over their heads forces a screen blur to give the impression of being caught under fire. Can't wait to bust out some LMG's on the Spetznaz.

But most of all, I hope they fixed the quickscoping issue. The bane of all FPS games today needs to be fixed. People need to learn how to really snipe enemies in games.

Just got my Origin BF3 pre-order in. And Also bought the just released Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A true multi-speaker surround headset off amazon. It look like it is gonna be awesome. Ordering my 6950 2GB on monday to complete my BF3 centric upgrade. I am glad I waited on the vidcard instead of getting it last month. This month the free game with certain Radeon cards is Deus Ex: Human Revolution which is awesome. My specs will be.

ASRock Z68 Extreme 4 Motherboard
Intel 2500K @4.7 Ghz
8GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance Memory
Sapphire 6950 2GB Dirt3 edition Vidcard
64GB Crucial C300 SATA III SSD (Boot)
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB HDD (Steam and Games)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB HDD (Data and Media)
Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
Logitech Keyboard (7 years old just love the feel of this exact model, bought 4 of them)
Turtle Beach Earforce Z6A Surround Sound headset.
Asus 1080p LED 23" Monitor
LG 40" 1080p LED HDTV which I play on as well.

That should set me up pretty good and I can add another 6950 in CFX when needed.
