New TF2 Items!

i LOVE the new items. For once they encourage and reward Better habits. Spies doing what they're supposed to be doing, sapping things. Snipers forced to re-learn the 1st principle of sniping, via tracer rounds? that reveal your position? iz truth mate.

The Bazaar Bargain itself i love for the classy retro look, and focus on accuracy.
I Made a sound mod of it myself, improved firing sound.
FINALLY!!!! FINALLY!! Engi got new gear. it's about time.

I disagree with the significance of tracer rounds. TF2 is completely different than other shooters. In BF2 sniping can be done from practically all the way across the map and hiding is a very big part of success. In TF2 sniping has its nice spots on every map that if you play on that map enough you pretty much know where the snipers are already. Sure you can give away your position but all the good spots are known already.

I don't think penetrating players makes it OP. You shouldn't be standing immediately behind somebody else all that much anyways. Obviously there will be times when somebody gets a lucky 2 kills from it, but it shouldn't be the norm. On maps like blackmesa in the vents and hallways it could be an issue, but Valve doesn't design weapons with blackmesa in mind (thank god).

I agree with your sentiment about tracer rounds.

The bullet penetration isn't what I dislike about the new rifle, it is the extra charge damage. Charged shots were already plenty powerful.

I agree about the penetration and standing behind someone but when you are pushing with a heavy then there is no where else for the medic to stand without being exposed. Sure dustbowl and stuff will have some issues but on maps like 2fort and mesa and other maps that have a bunch of small corridors it is an issue.

The extra 15% damage does such though because it will kill low health characters in the body which sucks.

I am assuming they did that as part of balancing the hopping scout easily killing zoomed in snipers but it sucks for everyone in general. and it makes it harder for engineers to keep building since you can shoot a building and still kill the engi.

I just think a damage penalty nerf to the 2nd, 3rd ,4th target should be applied.

Honestly, I haven't had any trouble with other snipers who are using the new rifle. It basically turns them into a corner camping, full charging bodyshot sniper. That, consequently, renders them relatively useless. Like most corner camping bodyshotters, they spend more time trying NOT TO DIE than they do actually killing people. The phenomenon is magnified on 2fort, a map in which you know exactly where corner camping snipers are. If you learn to snipe effectively (shoot heads, scope quick, and dodge everything tossed at you) using the vanilla rifle, nothing else is an effective substitute. You can kill 4 or 5 people in the amount of time it takes a Deus-noob to recharge and peek out again. And honestly, if you can get vanilla sniping down, it's not difficult to kill a high-hitpoint class VERY quickly with two shots. Deus-noobs...bring 'em on.
