Behold the Razer Tiamat 7.1, the world’s first circumaural gaming headset with 10 individual drivers built-in to deliver the ultimate 7.1 Surround Sound experience. Dominate deathmatches when you can hear incoming enemy footsteps to prevent backstabs and pinpoint enemy locations through gunfire with absolute precision.

No other surround sound headset has been engineered to produce such lifelike positional audio geared for the ultimate tactical advantage.

The asking price is around $180.

Ths is silly. 5 drivers in such a small space? I'm waiting for Razer to release a 10,000 DPI mouse. *shakes head*

Not to mention they're probably really heavy.

When playing any FPS, great sound makes a HUGE difference. There's been countless times I've walled people based on sound alone. I'm currently using Sennheisers PC 350's with my Creative X-Fi sound card. They're not the best, but they work. My old ones were awesome, but died - some LTE faux surround setup.

To an extent, it's dependent on price, but chances are I'll likely be getting these sometime shortly after they're released.

I just ordered my Turtle Beach Z6A 5.1 multispeaker headset on Wed. I don't regret it one bit. This headset, just like most razer stuff is overpriced and aesthetically geared towards 14 year olds imo. Also looks super heavy. The Z6a is turtle beach's official new pc headset for tournament play. 4 speakers per side. And angled properly for correct directional effect. Also you can individually adjust the channels volume and the sub so if you are listening to music or a movie you can tone down the sub to hear the detail stuff which is nice.

Very nice looking, that's for sure. I'd like to test drive them before I drop that kind of coin on a headset.

Turtle beach, really?
As an owner of one of razers keyboard, I can say that they are *incredibly* solid and worth the money, hardly overpriced at all, to be honest their mechanical keyboard is cheaper than the rest on the market.

The turtlebeach Z6A is a fantastic headset. I highly doubt this Razer will be. Real 7.1 will probably make the positional audio worse.

^ same headset I currently have, works fine. But I do have a soft spot for Razer products (except my mouse R.A.T. 5 FTW!!).

Turtle Beach is the most popular headset maker in gaming. I can't comment on the Razer keyboards as I have never used one, maybe they are great. But The reviews for all their headsets indicate some build quality concerns. And I have used some of their mice and they are designed with aesthetics more in mind than comfort imo. I have a logitech G5 and love it. That being said I would not buy a G9x because they look like they are trying to be Razer with all the angles and overall look of "looking cool" over ergonomics which in turns makes them overpriced just like the razer stuff just from my perspective. However, I am older (32) and therefore more interested in the performance of the product than the "extreme look" It is possible the look of a product has more impact for others than it does for me is all. If you like it and it works for you, great! I am happy you found a product that you are pleased and totally satisfied with. These days that is getting harder to find so more power to ya :)

In regards to the mouse, I can use my left as well as my right so I do enjoy the fact that they're ambidextrous mice. In which mouse you buy really is geared towards how you hold your mouse. I've owned a G5, I didn't like how it felt in my hand because of the way I hold my mouse. I loved my Razer Copperhead that I bought after my G5, and I love my Razer Lachesis as well.

About their keyboards, they are EXTREMELY comfortable and sturdy. They only have one downfall, the drivers will sometimes freak out causing a key to die, or the lights to flash uncontrollably. I own a Razer Tarantula and Lycosa. They're both amazing keyboards other than the said driver issues. My family owns a few Logitech G series keyboards and they're as well very nice, sturdy, little driver issues.

Headsets, I own a Razer Carcharias. I wrote up a review on the headset review thread. Here are the meaty bits.

Pros:
-Comfortable, I've worn them for 8 hours straight before. (Very light in weight and soft ear cups).
-Big ear cups (I have big ears and my ears fit in like a glove).
-Responsive when paired with a decent sound card (I'm using a Creative X-Fi card) highs, mids, and lows.
-Able to locate enemies on the battlefield.
-Mic is crisp and clear and is noise filtering.
-Long cable.
-In-line volume and mic switch.
-Ear cushions can be changed out if you've worn yours down (Have to purchase new ear cushions off their site 9.99 for cloth, 14.99 for leather).
-Wire is encased in cloth

Cons:
-Open ear design. Meaning you can hear things outside of the headset
-Mic isn't as adjustable as I'd like.
-The ear cups are adjustable but after extended use tend to auto adjust. It's more of an annoyance.
-The wire frame that holds the earcups and allows it to adjust feels flimsy (Though after owning for over a year, they haven't shown any signs of breaking, but that feels like where it would break if it were to break). This isn't really a con for me since I'm gentle with my things, but it's something to think about.

Other thoughts:
-Although I did say it had clean high, mid, and lows and is responsive, I do feel it could use a better frequency response range. Instead of 20 - 20,000 Hz, maybe 15- 15,000 Hz. I do understand what the human ear can pick up, but it having a larger range, allows what we can hear to sound better/chrisper, deeper. But most headsets I believe need this ;)

Overall score: 8/10 mostly because it's an open ear design. If it was closed I'd give it a 9/10. They go for $64.99 USD on Newegg.

Hope this helps someone out.

Razer has great marketing skills. I wouldn't say aimed at 14 year olds, but younger gamers. They do have great products, and have a diverse selection of products. If logitech were to add more gaming products, instead of a few keyboards, mice, headsets and make them look a little more "Cool" Logitech would outshine Razer. My encouraged my Father (41) to buy a Logitech G500. He brought it home, unpackaged it, and I noticed they didn't even change the case for the weights from the G5. Though that doesn't make the product any better, a lot of people judge on simply packaging. More flash, more sales, the new Charger will sell more now because it's more flashy.

Turtle beach is a great company, they make quality products. Logitech another great company, extremely quality products. I own a their X-540's and a webcam from them. In all reality, we can't down the Razer Tiamat until we get someone to review one :) Just sayin'

Sorry, I think it came across as I was saying don't buy Razer products. If you like them and they work for you and are comfortable for you, awesome. I wouldn't mind having a black widow mechanical keyboard. Mostly I was responding to the previous poster who seemed to be questioning turtle beach as a good manufacturer of gaming headsets. Which by sales and reviews they are the leader in gaming headsets. I should have stated more clearly that I was saying that specifically the headsets I think are overpriced. The Keyboards and mice are competitive if you like that style mouse. I misspoke in saying that from my specific perspective that the mice are overpriced since I just remembered I spend 79 bucks on my G5 which some would say is overpriced if you like the razer and steelseries style products. So that's just a wash really as far as "value" goes.

Am running Logitech G15 keyboard and a MX mouse. The look has nothing to do with what I buy. It's all about comfort and function. It could look like dog crap, but if it was the best on the market, and was affordable (or reasonably so), then I'd buy that over something that looked like a million bucks, but was a piece of crap performance wise.

I just hope it's a closed design, as I will not buy an open design headset. Good news for me though, is that I already have a decent headset (at least I think so, lol), and can easily wait until there's some reviews on how good it is.

I didn't mean to come across as a jerk, or anything. I was just telling my experiences and what not as a Razer owner. :)

Oh I did't think you came across as a jerk at all. I was merely clarifying what I meant with the earlier post is all. :)

horray, razer is making another overpriced headset that will break in less than 2 years!

From what I understand, "true" 5.1-7.1 isn't as good as software. The way I understand it, you are far better off getting a hi-fi headset and separate mic. Or a headset like the PC360.
