I'm normally one for not following the news, but this just sickens me... Copy/paste from another thread.

--Chad Lieberman. This self-proclaimed "best (con)artist in the world" has stolen art from artists on deviantart.com and many other online freelance and art galleries, claimed it as his own, and sold it for thousands. We're talking hobbyist/freelance artists who sell their work for $50 or so to their art communities are being ripped to some guy LITERALLY stealing and selling their work for $300-$1000! He even had the gall to steal works from Alex Garner, a DC Comic artist. During the months "his" sites were up (He's had 4), He's made an estimated 10-25 MILLION illegally selling other people's work.

Once word got around about this, he immediately deleted his twitter, facebook, and other social media accounts and put "his" online art gallery into hiding. Several of the artists he ripped from are filing Class-action lawsuits against him.

Screen shots and information about the lawsuit can be found here http://alexiuss.deviantart.com/#/d4737e3

This thread has MASSIVE amounts of information about the incident, including a list of all artists and works he's stolen from (well over 175+ different artists and 4500 pieces of artwork)

Except this is a 1000 times worse. People spend lot's of time making this stuff and some of it is really amazing. Hopefully this guy is gonna suffer a hard punishment for this.

I was reading about this too. The only thing that confuses me is how the guy could sell stolen paintings on canvas. Are there printers that work on canvas now or something?

If you go onto deviantart and go through their shops. You can find canvas prints. It lasts longer and is more durable. Paper prints last maybe 10 years if you have it in a frame under glass. They also use lower quality inks on Paper prints. Canvas prints use higher quality inks and canvas just lasts that much longer. So yeah, there are printers that can. :)

tell you the truth its like p2p'ing a movie or music, but I am pretty sure most of you have done that before?

Turns out hes also taking Fanart from movies/games/comics and is claiming them as "his original Ideas".
So far that makes Deviantart, Paramount Pictures, Disney, Marvel, DC, Square Enix, Udon, Gaia-online, and probably many more that are unknown in his 500+ page site, that he's stolen from.

Example (copy/paste from another thread) :

Him selling it for the low, low price of $292 (top middle)

He's making a living for stealing peoples work. I don't care who you are, if you're a thief, you're just low life scum. I could type up a word wall about how I feel about stealing, but I'll leave it at this. I REALLY hope I run into this guy in a dark alley sometime in the future.

Not really, because most of the time when people p2p movies and music, they are not turning around and making a profit from it. Also most people don't try to claim the movies and music they download as their own personal intellectual property. Same concept, but not the same thing.

As a traditional/digital artist also, where a lot of pieces take 32+ hours to make, this guy truly disgusts me.
