Does anyone play this game? Not DDO, but at a table with a DM and character sheet, the whole deal. I started to play about two weeks ago, and I took the role of DM for a few of my friends. Things are going awesomely so far.

Anyone else play it? Also, where can I get a bunch of miniatures? We currently use loose change with tape as us, and an assortment of dimes/pennies/nickels as the enemies. lol.
 
I don't play with miniatures, but it is still technically "Tabletop". It's up to the DM to explain positioning and such...saves money...
 
Ive DM'ed since 3, when 4 came out, went out and bought every book and mini I could get. I dont regret it, but you can definitely play without them. Ebay is great, craigslist if you live in a large area.
 
Get an idea of what you need mini-wise and go to a local hobby shop. They'd be able to help you out or point you in the right direction.

There are tons of miniature games out there and finding models to fit your D and D group wouldn't be too much of a problem.

I don't play myself, I have several friends that do. I did play Never Winter Nights 1 and 2, which are computer games completely built on DnD rules, so I am "familiar" with them.

This will save you even more money, and you can play with people across the world. Just need to learn the program. My Uncle is a DnD'er and most of his friends live 2+ hours and some 6+ hours so they've recently got into this so they can play their DnD games. :)
Honestly, RPtools could have a little section if we had A LOT of people interested. I could see games being played.
 
I used to play a LONG time ago, back in the 1980's when I was a kid. In 2001, I sold every bit of RPG stuff I had, D&D and others, for $1300. I had good times with it. I also got into the Warhammer RPG and that was much more involved than D&D, as you built your character with a real background that determined his skills and items he had, based on what he did before he became an adventurer.
 
I remember going to my local gameshop every thursday for some D&D, we lost our best DM to everquest. *sadface

Anyways um... you should be able to google & find a cool game shop near you, if not like someone else said I'm sure you could find miniatures for sale online, while your at it you should pick yourself up a nice set of dice & maybe a few new lore books.

I would suggest Monster Vault if you don't already have it & or any of the Planes hardcovers (Manual of the Planes, Plane Below and Plane Above)
 
My friend has all 4th edition books, and a bunch of the other books like Dragon Magazine. We're covered on that.

@Spitfire'd, I just want a bunch of minis to cover most generic encounters, and some for more special encounters. Plus some for our characters. lol. I am playing as an NPC, but I do nothing to advance the story. In fact, I almost killed my own character in an encounter once. lol. I was unconscious for like 90% of it. That was actually pretty fun, because I didn't have to manage my own character as well.

@Heldure, know any trustworthy sellers on eBay? I looked but none of them seemed to sell them on a regular basis.

@Fireskull, yeah, but doing it with miniatures is so much more awesome. We have a giant white board that we draw a grid on, and it's aching for some minis. lol.
 
I played DnD once with a few friends. I was lol'ing so hard at the amazing times we had. Our DM was such an awesome guy too.

We replaced mini's with Legos though. Making a large Lego purple dragon was kinda fun. :\

Yeah, we've done some awesome stuff as well. For example, with our side campaign, we have an Elven archer named Carrec who is just boss. He got a triple kill in one turn, which ended the encounter. He used Twin Strike to shoot two guys that were far away, then dropped his bow and took out his sword, used an Action Point to do a basic melee against the guy in front of him. Was pretty boss.

That's a pretty good idea with the Legos. Have you played Heroscape? We have a few of those figures, but only a few of them are actually relevant.

Did you guys know Barnes & Nobles sells DnD minis?
 
Last I played DnD was April 2010, which coincidentally was teh first time I got drunk. My DM was Chan and he was a boss. A short asian with an unusually deep voice. I was an elf paladin and I kept rolling 20's when it wasn't my turn. Then I would ask when it would be my turn right after I had gone, due to the intoxication.

DnD is boss.

I don't think I could play D&D while drunk. Then again, I don't drink anyway lol.

The dice we have are cursed. During one encounter, we rolled 3's and 4's for almost the whole thing. The enemy's AC was 20. -_-

Do it. I need my own dice. We have two sets, but our group is like 5 people.
 
I used to play. We actually bought and painted miniatures for our own characters. I got some from some local hobby shops, but a few I ordered online.

For the monsters, we used candies (gummies, starburst, etc). They fit great on the board and if you killed it, you got to eat it!!

It was fun, but sadly my group split up and I never searched for a new group.

I'm looking for miniatures, and my best bet seems to be to go to Portland, or order online.

That sounds fun lol. We just need some bigger enemies than coins.
