Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review [PC GAMER]

I'm planning on picking it up after work.....I like series, and hopefully will like this as well. It's been getting decent scores like 8.5 on Gamespot and 9.0 on IGN. Although IGN is usually the last place I look for game reviews.

So far I am enjoying it. Not that far into it, but definitely feels like a fun game.

Graphics wise... meh.

Controls, feels like a console port. I dont understand why almost every game that comes out these days has mouse lag or acceleration of some sort. I know that consoles are probably a bigger money maker, but how hard can it be to get 1:1 mouse input on a game? Source does it well, Bad Company 2 isnt bad, BF 3 alpha felt fine, the CoD series is fine (of course its based on a very very very old engine that was made for pc) but almost every other game just cant get it right, its SO frustrating.

it really isnt a console port, it feels like its a pc game, not a port.

Well then maybe im the only one with mouse lag/acceleration, but whenever I feel that in games, feels to me like a console port. And yes i always have vsync off.

This is the only review I need:

Can we assume you don't have a wireless mouse?

And Byakuya that is pure epicness..

I'm wishing I didn't buy it now. This game just isn't for me, of course I really hate stealth games so I should have known better :facewall: *edit* after playing it for a little while longer it does seem like it's getting better

Give it to meeee

Just beat it a couple of hours ago and I have to say that it was phenomenal. One of the best games this year next to Portal 2, so far that is ;). Took me about 18 hours to beat it, was really packed with content.

call me a nut but there are a few things i need to address in this thread.

1. the review was great. i love the use of words humour and opinions.
2. anybody not familiar with the deus ex game (original) is not a fan of pc gaming, or is severely lacking experience with it.
3. Deus Ex is easily the top 3 games of all time i've ever played. Its very difficult to pick a favourite however because well, there are a lot of great games.
4. MGS/splinter cell have nothing on this game (original). It simply can't be explained etc, only played. And no you don't need to only play the stealth route.
5. Im actually concerned about people saying they beat the game in 18-22 hours and such. i took my time with the first, and it was extremely rewarding. im just hoping i can get the same gameplay out of this version as the first, and really grinding my way through even up to 40 hours of gameplay with it before it comes to an end.
6. are you able to buy a dvd copy of the game that does not require steam to play? For instance borderlands you can get on steam or dvd, i have the hard copy and can play it fine without an internet connection. however fallout NV even with the hard copy requires steam to play, which is junk...because right now i do not have the internet at home, so this is a major concern for me.

i dunno. i agree im very sick of the only video games being made are shooting people in desert settings etc. every since i was a kid i always dreamed of having this amazing shooter that took intuition imagination and smarts in general to achieve things etc, and deus ex came. it was amazing and will never be matched. if i can recapture even a hint of that feeling, i'll buy this game immediately

If you are a fan of deus ex, theres no way your beating it that fast. When I saw this all i could think of was "he must have ran right threw everything. lol

I'm a huge deus ex NUT. I played the first about 30 different times. got all the endings, and upgraded JC Denton so many ways that it was a different experience every time I played.

Being a DX Nut, it will take you 10 hours, just to get to china. "the second area" because you will search every corner, try and hack every door, log onto every computer, get acces to every code, and talk to ever person.

and not only will it take you forever to beat it playing the way its ment to be played, you will be very satisfied with the game. garenteed.

It's still not as good as the original, but its truly an epic piece of art. Now if only Eidos stops making Tomb Raider, Hitman, and Kane and Lynch movies, AND ADOPT DEUS EX

My roomate played and ran in and shot everyone, did the mission, and got out. hacking a few computers here and there. upgraded his speech and hacking and jumping.

He got past china pretty fast, i would say with 6 hours of gameplay.

I played and looked at the art on the wall, read all the ebooks, all of the emails, (actually read them) and found secret content in the game. I questioned everyone, hacked every computer, and got every security code I could find. I would not leave a building until every desk was searched, all computers were hacked, and every security module has been compromised.
I haven't killed anyone yet in the game, and when I made it to china (in about 11 hours of gameplay) I had double the experience, already too much cash (unfortunately), more augmentations, about 5 or 6 more missions than him because of how I handled previous situations, upgraded computer hacking, melee, and biocell count and regen.

What a lot of people dont understand about the Deus Ex Franchise, When you read all the content, (ebooks, emails) you can actually develop your own opinion on who can be trusted and who cant be. leading you to having a negative or positive relationship on each individual person. When you play this game, and you show that you "agree" with (these certain people) and "disagree" with (these certain people) The game will pick up on your attitude, and actually guide you to more treasure in the game.

[if you just hate everyone, or agree with everyone, you wont receive extra missions, and extra content] They want YOU to solve the conspiracy, so if you just play the game, and have a default experience, you aren't rewarded for it.

I call it duece ex and will continue to be wrong till the day I die. I've called it that since the first game, and no-one (or thing) will change me from my mistake. neener.

I also say tomato (tu-mah-toe)

(tap tap)
PUNCH

I'm loving this game. Going for no kills, no alarms. But it looks like no alarms is a bit of a vague achievement, so I'm just not letting anyone become hostile ever except for bosses.

i've also played the first game a zillion times, and did EVERYTHING. and it was one of the first games to which i actually explored and figured things out for myself instead of looking at strat guides and stuff like that. i got so into that game i literally had a log book on all the codes and such, it was intense. and upon some of the plot curves i was completely floored.

so as long as i can play this game without needing to connect to steam, i think i'll pick this sucker up. my specs just match the recommended, but im pretty sure i'll be able to run it fine. most likely not fully maxed but i should be able to make it look pretty nice non the less.

im looking forward to having another gaming experience like before.

Is it worth buying or will it "suck you alive"

Yeah, I agree with this statement. I've been playing the game for sooo long (almost the only thing I've played since Wednesday...or Tuesday, I forget) and I just got to China. Except for the part where this is caused by my love for the original Deus Ex. It's more caused by the fact that there's so much stuff in this game.

Don't know what you mean by "suck you alive" but it's very worth buying.

Playing Human Revolution when I am able to and the original Deus Ex when I am not. I'll beat both eventually.
