Negative Membership Credit

I find it funny that they have a new membership credit system (this has to be new, because I've never heard of it, neither has any of my friends). Apparently Jagex tried to charge my $6.00 gift card that I had purchased for one month of Runescape membership, and it gave me a couple of weeks extra for membership, then gave me negative membership credit.

Jagex, you disappoint me.

Call me slow or laugh at me here, but.. Having a negative membership credit, does that mean you get charged extra on your next subscription? OR, just displaying they gave you extra weeks? :S

Appariently they gave me a week extra so in order for me to even play on a free world, I have to pay a dollar or something. If i want to become a member again, i have to pay around $8.00, instead of the normal $5.95.
