Excited about DOTA 2?!

Hey guys,

So I hear a lot of LoL players are excited about playing DOTA 2 when it comes out. I personally play HoN, and I know that HoN players are excited about DOTA 2.

I wanted to throw a suggestion out for anybody who has only played LoL and not DotA or HoN. You probably want to play some HoN or DotA before you go and play DotA 2. They are exact replicas of the game DotA 2 will be, including the mechanics, heroes, items, and general speed of gameplay. Granted, HoN has some heroes unique to it, and has different names for the characters/items who are the same, but it's still BASICALLY the same game.

The reason I say this, is that those of you who hate HoN, probably won't like DOTA 2 much better. So give HoN a try with those of us in eGO who play it, and we can help you get past the learning curve, help you have fun, and just all in all give you a good experience in HoN that would otherwise be hard to find when playing with just pubs.

As always, I am not here to disrespect LoL, just wanted to throw out my suggestion.

Haha. I've played all three and decided to play LoL. I dont know whether I had my expectation too high, or I'm too used to LoL, but when leaked pictures of DotA2 came out, I felt disappointed.

TBH I think HoN will die when DOTA 2 comes out, not completely, but slowly. When I saw the stream for Dota 2 I became really disappointed, I guess I was expecting something more. I'll just stick with LoL.

ya,most HoN players are going to be switching to DOTA 2 when it's out, so HoN will most likely die

Yeah, HoN will die. I think League of Legends will Dominate Dota2, too. Their foothold in the genre is too strong now.

i think anybody who played the original DotA consistently would probably choose DOTA 2 over LoL, but LoL is different enough from HoN and DOTA 2 that they will probably have a lot of people who play both.

Dota has over 20 million players in china, and around 10 million in europe/america. It can pretty much ignore anything with it's current player base. I would recommend you try it and give it a chance. Dota is really difficult at first, but once you play it for a bit you might notice some of the reasons someone would pick it over LoL. I started with dota, moved to HoN, tried LoL, and going to play Dota 2 when it comes out.
