The Battlefield 3 Open Beta takes place on September 11, 2011 confirmed developer EA, and it will allow fans to try out the multiplayer modes in the game ahead of the Battlefield 3 release date of October 25th.
The open beta will be open to all players on all platforms who want to try out the game, although how you get in will be communicated at a later point.
Those who bought Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or the Medal of Honor: Tier 1 Edition, or pre-order Battlefield 3: Limited Edition for PC via Origin, will gain a 48 hour EARLY ACCESS to the open beta, getting to play it a full two days ahead of the rest of the world.

As of right now no exact date has been announced for the beta. Most likely it will be the first or second week of September.

As someone else pointed out, this date is not true. EA "tweeted" that any dates that you have read for the beta are NOT correct and they have NOT set a date for it yet.
