Reuters reports that Apple CEO Steve Jobs is stepping down from his leadership position.

A Business Wire report has more details:

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Apple?s Board of Directors today announced that Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Tim Cook, previously Apple?s Chief Operating Officer, as the company?s new CEO. Jobs has been elected Chairman of the Board and Cook will join the Board, effective immediately.

This has to do with his health issues. I just hope he has not taking a turn for the worse.
 
Time to buy Apple stock tomorrow!

Also - does this mean I can pick up an iPad for $99?
 
Good. Maybe now Apple will get FLASH on their stuff. Java's a mem hog.
 
Oh well, I'm still not going to buy anything apple product, except maybe an iTouch. iAmokwiththis.
 
This is great news. Jobs is an idiot when it comes to making decisions on what to include on a tech device. The only thing he is really good at is marketing. He KNOWS how to sell a product but when it comes to feature of the product hes pretty idiotic. Hopefully for Apple users it means Flash will be coming to your products.

Personally I am tired of all the apple fanboys out there. Some of the most insane obnoxious people on the planet especially the ones who dont know squat about tech and got sucked into Apple becuase of Jobs marketing abilities. Heres hoping Apple returns to the gutter eventually..

Also hopefully this new CEO will spur more innovations and less litigations with Apple running around suing anyone who makes a touch based phone or tablet that is rectagular and has a black trim around it.

If I'm an apple "fanboy" then you must be an applie "hater".

You do realise that everyone is suing everyone in the telecoms industry right? Also some of the iPhone's hardware comes from direct competitors.

tbh though blaze most of the android people are countersuing because of apple suing them. Apple and Microsoft are the primary instigators here. Apple more than Microsoft because they are scared that Android is gathering steam but iOS has started to come to a halt. In fact Apple has been recently been discovered to have tampered with evidence to photoshop pictures of samsung phones to make them the same size as iphones in an effort to stifle sales.

That graph fails to show Apple suing pretty much every Android manufacturer including Samsung, HTC, and Google.
 
I was watching the channel that shows the stocks and all on it (can't remember the name) and it was talking about it. As soon as they announced it, Apple's stocks plumited.
