i figured that it was going to be something about actual fireflies, like maybe some mutation that causes them to glow different colors

Same I was like :O I just watched "Hounddog" good movie btw. After her Dad gets hit with lightning, he basically is a tard, but fireflies entertain him. haha. Plus so many fireflies have been outside my home.
