...oops, I added the =(e)=™ to my forum user name <----

never mind figured it out...

*sigh*...it's been a long week...My dog got hit by a car on Tuesday and I've been hand feeding him since he can't get up :'(

If any admin see my username change request and help me out it would be much appreciated!

Thank you

@Abdul: I've already gone through this process a LONG time ago, but once I finished the last 2 years of college I had to part from the game for a while....I joined under a different forum name (that i can't remember of course) and that was back when DoD_Flash was still an eGO server....I miss flash :(

@Sumac: haha couldn't agree more!!!!

@Megs: Thank you! His stitches come out on Monday and that's also when they're going to take another x-ray of his hip and rear leg...he can't put any pressure on it and has to hobble around :'(. I work with my dad at our auto repair shop and we would bring Sam (our dog) with us every day...but a parts driver (in a Ford Ranger) ran over his front legs and I THINK his rear one...plus he's all scraped up, but he's making progress!!

Auto repairs eh? Maybe you can help me out :)

Can a messed up sensor (speed in particular) make the whole engine go haywire? Because I've taken my car to multiple shops (2001 Toyota solara v6) and I've had some say a Bad speed sensor and other say a bad catalytic converter o.O

@Ragman: oh yea, the "technical term" we use for it if we order parts is a 'Vehicle speed sensor" and oh yea, if it's not working right it'll mess everything up! The cat code is only an issue if you're going to get it smogged soon (unless you live in a state OTHER than Cali...then it doesn't matter). Cost wise on that sensor in a Solara (non convertible) parts and labor is probably going to run close to $500, and most of that is in the sensor itself! That cat can run anywhere between $600 - $1600

Thats what I was thinking. My 1st car had a bad catalytic converter (also a toyota). I could hear it (like a continuous rattle) and smell exhaust while in the car, and Im not getting either with this one.

Damn we running a mechanic help line here?

SWEET. Ok my my 1985 Honda . . . just kidding :P

glad to see ya round

I seen no common relation between the speed sensor an a converter, however if the converter is below threshold then its clogged and exhaust cant pass through the platinum core causing the car to hesitate or buck jerk, however your speed sensor is run off your wheels on the ABS system so that's electronic.

here is what you may find when your cats are bad...

P0420 ? Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (4-Cylinder engine)
? Three-way catalytic converter malfunction
? Open or short in heated oxygen sensor circuit (bank 1, sensor 2)
? Heated oxygen sensor malfunction (bank 1, sensor 2)
? Open or short in heated oxygen sensor circuit (bank 1, sensor 1) or A/F sensor 2 circuit
P0420 ? Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (V-6 engine)
? Three-way catalytic converter malfunction
? Open or short in heated oxygen sensor circuit
? Heated oxygen sensor malfunction

As for that speed sensor this is more than likely what code you have...

P0500 ? Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
? Open or short in speed sensor circuit
? Vehicle speed sensor malfunction
? Instrument cluster malfunction
? PCM malfunction
