Well I've been out of sig creation for a long time, and while in the past I was all about crazy backgrounds and such with brushes .. I am now very simplistic and just modify pictures to make them more "sig worthy".

Whatcha guys think?

The Lambo one is a little funky. Some artifacts on the top left. Maybe that's a jpeg artifact. I usually save my stuff as a png. Don't get artifacts :3

Have you looked into different color effects? Looks like you're doing high saturation, trying to make the colors more vibrant. Look into doing some lower saturation, vintage type effects. You can usually find decent photoshop actions on deviant art. If you're using gimp, they're scripts/plugins.

You can also add things to those, don't need to cut them out and do the crazy backgrounds. Something like this. Just an example
