No spawn killing of any kind would help out a lot on the Heavy Metal server. I regularly have to warn people for it.

This rule should only be for Conquest.

Yeah I think that the no going into the spawn at all would make it much easier to admin. In my opinion that is what caused the majority of the issues on Phu Bai. If we had just said no spawn killing at all then admining Phu Bai would have been much easier.

The problem with having any sort of rule that allows you to enter spawn, regardless of your situation/justification, you are hurting our server's populartity. If you spawn and get killed instantly, how do you feel? If you run to a helicopter and it magical implodes constantly over and over every time it spawns, how does that make you feel? If you spawn and run to prevent this type of spawn activity only to be dropped constantly every single time because hey, guess what... you shot at them so it's all good for them to shoot you now! That doesn't make you feel any better.

This is how our players feel, public and clan members alike, every single time it occurs. It's not fun, it's not beneficial to anyone other than the person/people doing it, and it's definitely not going to populate our server in any way. In fact, it does the complete opposite, it destroys the popularity of a server along with it's population.

Sorry for the condescending tone, but this is how I and many other players feel about the absurd method that is in play currently.

AGREED

Also for everyone saying that this should be a conquest rule only... IT IS! lol so don't worry this is NOT going to effect Rush maps at all!

i think the no spawnkilling rule is good the way it is. i mean who likes to spawn and die right away? now imagine the enemy team is allowed to go in your spawn and camp it as well (with some of their own vehicles and the ones in your own spawn).
as some ppl already stated the "sabotage enemy vehicles" rule is some kind of tricky. as ginger stated if you put c4 on something and the person using the vehicle dont notice it hes dead no matter if the planter decides to blow it up in spawn or wait until the vehicle left spawn.
that said, i think it would be best to allow vehicle stealing but not sabotage cause its pretty much spawnkilling. no spawnkilling should be kept the way it is. what i would suggest on no spawnkilling is that there should be rly 0 spawnkilling. that means even when your getting shot. its just impossible for an admin to tell if they rly shot or not.

Not allowed into enemy spawn for any reason. I say make it simple across the board (Stay out) as far as shooting from spawn if there is guns mounted guns in spawn and you use them its far for bad guys to shoot you if they fire upon.
I have play on many other servers and I hear the same excuses over 1st they come in spawn steel the tank destroy everyone for a while racking up lots of points, raging the other team, players start dropping off server . Then when tank has taken amounts of damage they drive out of the spawn area like in the movie scene “Kelly’s Heroes” and their excuse was I was just leaving and shooting my way out spawn base.
In my opinion, Conquest uncaps it simple Stay out for any reason, if anyone (Tanks, Helios, players) fire out at you they “Only them” become a target. Otherwise stay out uncaps and firing in uncaps.

I think our rule got many point of views, but we should just add something to it to make it better, so this is my opinion:

So in my opinion is easy to see if your team is just there camping or just doing some sabotage and keep the server running smoothly

I have to agree here: its better than my idea! :P

Doesn't sound nice, considering that pubs would abuse that rule, and members who know the rules would feel bad about it.

Not allowed into enemy spawn for any reason.

No stealing, killing or entering uncap for any reason is the best bet.

I agree with these statements

To add: We already experienced that in Vietnam there was already 10 second suicide if the enemy would go into the uncap spawns. So, you couldn't sabotage anything unless its right outside of the uncap area and this worked all the time.

The final say:
Not allowed into enemy UNCAP SPAWN for any reason.

If EA wants the game to be like that.. they should add fog zones to maps like: Atacama, Heavy Metal or Harvest Day, I remember back in the days when Duality, a guy who develop a a procon patch to control the base camping (warning players to leave the base and killing them if you kill someone inside), and me were testing this on "Panama Canal" after a while we figured out this is not working, because the people just stay inside their base sniping everybody around and killing the server, so I still thinking we should let the rule as it is and add "do not go inside the other teams base IF YOU CONTROL ALL THE POINTS

shooting parachuters is fair game. The game designers would not have them parachuting in on certain rush maps if they did not anticipate the parachuters getting shot down

This is what I posted in the thread about going out of bounds and it pretty much applies here as well:

"I've never been one in favor of lots of rules that the majority of players aren't going to be aware of anyway and simply increase the work for server admins. With that said, I'd support dropping the rule entirely."

When I ran a BF2 community, we had a bunch of rules, including this one. We got tired of constantly admining when we wanted to play so we simplified everything by eliminating all rules (except no cheating or being an idiot...). It made things much simpler any people adapted. Rarely did we have people just sitting in bases attacking and if they did, they were usually dealt with fairly quickly.

I've changed my mind: I initially made another idea (on first page), but to be honest right now it is fine. While there is a he said/she said element, its fair enough and the pubs who don't like it are well free to clear out.

I have had a lot of fun with the rule (You can steal but no killing) from the defender's side. Someone comes in, I just wait till they hop in the copter and pop them 100+ points for nothing.

It is irritating when folks can't resist and start killing. ...I find I usually have fun hunting them down and taking them out.

I vote leave it alone.

I am all for being allowed to steal enemy vehicles and only engage the enemy when shot at first. I do agree that you should just go in and take the vehicle and leave as soon as possible and try to avoid engaging anyone inside the spawn. I have a question about AA guns that are shooting out from the spawn, can we attack the AA guns and tanks inside the spawn with the helicopter and/or other vehicles if they are firing out at you and just using the spawn as cover not to have fire returned?

I haven't found any guidance on the following issue:

What are the actual boundaries of the enemy's spawn and what is actually classified as spawn camping? Does it mean that you are sitting inside the enemy spawn and killing them as soon as they spawn or you are outside the defined spawn area? How close is too close to the spawn, some people thing that the tree line on the hill above the US base in Heavy Metal is spawn camping (It is very difficult to shoot accurately from that distance without a sniper rifle) which I would disagree I would argue that the developers designed the concrete walls as a visible cue to separate the spawn from the rest of the map and the tree line is well beyond that point.

I vote leave it alone.

If an AA gun or tank is shooting your from spawn you are more than welcome to shoot them back. We used to have a plug-in that punished your for killing someone inside their uncap but disabled it because of this sort of situation where they are just using spawn as a safety net to rack up points.

Also I haven't played Heavy Metal in awhile but for the most part I play by the rule of thumb that your shouldn't be going much past the last base (i.e. A for US and C for Russians) Honestly there is little to no reason to go past these points and going past only causes squad mates to spawn on you and then go spawn camp.

The only reason I go past these points is to steal my precious choppers, and if I do, I make it very clear to my teammates, "I am going in there spawn to steal a vehicle, under NO circumstances are you to kill while we are in there. It is against eGO rules." Because that serves as a warning that it is against eGO rules if I personally see them do it I can kick them and get out with my chopper.

I do NOT think vehicle sabotage should be allowed. Alot of times the only way to get out of your spawn is with a vehicle when all flags have been taken by the other team.

If you are allowed to tag vehicles with tracer, c4, or destroy the vehicles in otherways, you might as well just have an admin restart the map because it becomes impossible to leave the uncap.

I voted to leave it as is. It's easy and clear cut. Most pubs like it and usually always follow it.

other: as long as your purpose is vehicle stealing, do whatever you want. if someone is in your way, kill them. if someone tries to shoot you, kill them. if someone drives away with your target, blow it up.
