I would like to know what the advantage of being in this chopper only areas actually is for your team?

It creates an element of surprise which the other team wasn't expecting, i.e. the cliffs on Valparaiso. I got a lot of flak for being on one of them during the tournament a few weeks ago, and while debatable, it distracted enough of the team to take the objective. You make a good point on the logic, it should be uniform.

I'd encourage everyone to read up on the strategies for these particular maps.

Valparaiso's lighthouse is discussed as a very strategic spot, and goes into detail regarding the chopper spots you can set-up on. The same can be said for the windmills on Heavy Metal. Do we want to follow the flow of other game servers and keep them in bounds or create our own rules here? I think our admin efforts are better used on people who exploit/grief other players, not a clever use of game mechanics.

the rule to the best of my knowledge makes perfect sense. also banning the top of the lighthouse is unnecessary because its not even a good spot

I've never been one in favor of lots of rules that the majority of players aren't going to be aware of anyway and simply increase the work for server admins. With that said, I'd support dropping the rule entirely.

In addition to the allowance of the Heavy Metal US side B hill out of bounds area, it would be nice to allow the area by the rocks in Rush (Arica) where you climb out of bounds over the rocks on defense. All it does it provide a shorter route to another area accessible other ways.

This is what we are trying to avoid, we don't want all these exceptions. We especially wouldn't let the rocks be an exception because you actually have to go out of bounds. The only thing that would change here is some exceptions for chopper areas. Not areas that you have to go out of bounds for. "Going out of bounds for any reason is considered exploiting on eGO servers."

True, but this seems like the appropriate venue to question that rule and bring up alternate suggestions. I actually think PBJ might be on to something here. As a single map server Heavy Metal seems like a decent place to amend the rules somewhat without harm to the rest of the servers.

Doing away with the out of bounds rule altogether on Heavy Metal would not be a bad move in my eyes, to the best of my knowledge there's nowhere you can go out of bounds to get somewhere you wouldn't normally be able to get to otherwise. In certain instances going out of bounds can help you even the odds when your team is down, such as skirting the boundaries from either A or C on the way to B or getting to the hill over B from the US side but that's about it. There's nothing like Valparaiso or Nelson Bay though where knowing the right exploit gets you a good spot to sit and camp opponents. Food for thought.

I was only pointing out we don't want to change our out of bounds rule for all our servers. Making all these exceptions would cause confusion. But, I do like the idea of just bending the rules on one server and one server alone.

I can't help but wonder how many admins voted for keep it as is when it is a pain to admin it as is and would be alot easier for pubs to just understand the simple across the board rule rather then to have to "learn" every no-no spot or exception on every map. I don't mean to sound condescending but seriously there is no benefit to the way it is now. And it is hell to admin. There are even locations that are "Gray areas" that not all admins, admin the same way for. So for the sake of simplicity and to keep all our admins on the same page please vote to change the ruling.

In regards to Heavy Metal's B location, it more or less already allowed regardless of this decision simply because there's literally no way to admin it unless you are babysitting that location. We have fun before playing admin on a server, babysitting through an entire round isn't fun, thereby, that particular location is more or less in the clear regardless of the decision made here. I really don't think there's any doubt about it's usefulness or any concern for it's abuse at all anyways. The main maps people are normally concerned with are Cold War, Valpariso, and Nelson Bay. Most other maps are more or less pretty cut and dry about things.

In regards to the chopper drop areas, there is no surprise element at all to it. It's a giant slow moving eyesore in the sky that drops 2-3 people on top and then falls into the ocean. It pisses more people off on the attacking team than it does on the defending team. Also, by allowing the lighthouse to be utilized via chopper drop, you're allowing the cliffs and treetops to be utilized as well via chopper drop. It's a double-edged sword that creates drama with public players and clan members alike, which is a major draw towards the whole "keeping people on the ground" thought. If you're unfamiliar with what I mean by this, just play in HC rush until someone gets kicked for being on the cliffs then sees someone on top of the lighthouse and wonders why they got kicked and the lighthouse residents didn't. It's not fair to that player, and I'd rather not have it all than it be unfair to another player.

I guess there are too many rocks. Let me give more detail. :P

On Defense, the first point, there is a hill which the attackers come from. The Defenders can climb it as well, but its shorter it you go around the side, out of bounds for 3 or 4 seconds, and hop down. It isn't somewhere that isn't already used; to be honest I constantly see it...and nades thrown from there.

I didn't mean the second point rocks. Sorry if I confused anyone.

I was confused a minute, thanks for clearing that up.

TL;DR Leave it the same.

The spots are easy to admin. When I have to start admining I go recon so I can watch all spots long range and I dont have to hide or run out of combat to admin. Points like the lighthouse are easy to kill off of. I personally like using the lighthouse, from a recon point of view its great. Smoke grenades don't stop that spot, if you are using mortars. These points are easy to admin, W/K/B. All I have had to do was follow our normal procedure and it works out, but sometimes there are the players that want to push to see what I will do. So I put my foot down with them, after the warning, state the rule as easy and clear as possible, just like the servers do, then if they argue anymore, from the eGO code of conduct:

14. Admins have final say in server.

Time for them to leave. I understand questioning rules your not sure about, but the servers are not the place for that. Just tell them if they want to question the rules to head to our website register for an account and then head to the forums and they will get all the explanation that they need or like. Having that conversation on the server usually cause disruptions from other players and a server can go down, attitude wise, really fast. Also if someone is in a spot that your not sure of and he is on the opposing team, kill him. If he is on you team either get on vent and ask for help or just politely ask him to get down if that doesn't work send Slaz, Music, Short, and Left spams on steam(jk, dont do it to Left, but the others are free game  ).
