My new rig is in the burn in stage and I will be on dod as soon as it finishes a clean install. I will get vent before 9pm cst tonight to hear what is up.

New rig:
AMD 5600
8600 GT 512 DDR3
2 GB DDR2 Ram (2 GB more on the way)
DVDRW
CDRW
After Burn in I will add a separate lan card and separate sound card.

What I am used to:
laptop Old Desktop
Turino 32 AMD 2600
1gb ram shared 1gb ram
x200 9700 pro 128mb

Can't wait to get this in action!
 
two questions if I may.

8600 GT 512 DDR3 - this a temp card?
and are you gonna run a 64bit OS?
 
I need to get a 64bit version of vista, I only have the 32bit. I haven't looked into 64bit yet. The video card isn't a temp that's it, all my budget can handle.

Is that Processor Duel Core?

And my Friend has that same video card. It has a very good bang for the buck. I think that card has the most graphics potential without needing an additional power plug in. So if you have a small power supply, it will not burden it too much. How big of a power supply are you running while I am at it?

I also agree with Cryptex. Show some class Everlast.

[/quote1206355465]It maybe a mean question but the 8600 series sucks plain and simple,if he's only playing DOD S and nothing else demanding then yeah its ok but he could've gotten something alot better for the same price.

OP* Good rig but shame about the graphics card.

Dude, let me know what you could buy that would better and still be under $100.00 Stop being such a jerk. If someone buys something, you don't say it sucks. Thats his hard earned money he spent. That might of been all he could of afforded. Show some respect.
 
He was just making a suggestion and his opinion on the card. And whatever he has is alot better then my Standard Dell. Take that!! Standard Dell Power!!!

Have you ever even USED an 8600? My 8600GTS can pump out full graphics with 1680x1050 AND HDR on both the regular and Orange Box source engine. Before you decide to hate on something, do your research. This ALSO goes to those Vista haters out there. Don't knock it till you try it.

Dude what the hell is your problem? i'm not being heartless at all,i'm just stating my opinion and i'm being honest about it but since i'm "being a jerk" i'll knock it down a notch.

Yes i was being abit harsh so i apolgize to the OP.

The guy posted his pc specs so people being are going to judge it,the guy brought a pretty good gaming pc but the 8600 series isn't really that great honestly, check any review out for it.

For his Hard earned money i'm just saying he could've gotten something better for less or the same.

As for getting a better card for less yes he could've have gotten something better for cheaper such as a 1950Pro or XT or a 7900GS-GT etc but i'll stop here before i'm accused of crapping on anyone's parade.


Cryptex* read my post,i didn't say the 8600 wouldn't be good for Source or Day of defeat for that matter i was implying that if he has newer games like COD4 or Crysis in mind the 8600 will let him down,and yes i do have Vista and i wouldn't change it for XP anyday.

And when does my rank come into this? just because i'm an eGO player doesn't mean i'm infallible to making bad decisions in a forum or letting an accidental F bomb in a server.

To the OP,sorry for offending you,enjoy your rig.
 
Oh one more thing about Vista 64 OP,make sure you install the OS and update it first than put the extra 2 GB of ram later in,there seems to be a problem with Vista 64 and BSOD if you have 4 gigs or more in your system.

Just a heads up.
 
The 8600GTS's can also throw out Company of Heroes and COD4 at all high and ultra high settings 30FPS no prob. Same 1680x1050 res as well. But if a mod could lock this as I believe soon it will turn into a raging flame fest.
 
sure who0ps my nForce3 AMD 4400+ (s939 !amazed ) / 7600gs (agp !amazed ) system!!!

but.. i lurve my nforce 3 build. never seen a more stable pc. its been on for 8 months strait one time without a restart, and only reason i restarted it then, was cuz i figured i should get the heaps of windows updates that had came out.

enjoy that rig.. and id like to hear what your lowest frames are with it.. i might think of building something close too it soon.
