Hello,

Long story short I volunteer every week with a junior high program at a Church. We are always looking for fun things we can do with the students that are also safe.

This would explain my love for NERF guns, which I have talked about in other threads (Feel free to bump those threads to talk about Nerf).

My room-mate came across the Light Strike Laser Tag stuff and is pondering getting it as another resource that we can have as something fun to do with the students.

Just curious if anyone owns any of these products and if so what your recommendations are. We (the church) have no budget this year so we'd probably have to invest ourselves to have them for the students.

Again, looking for people who have bought these laser tag guns and what you think of them. If you don't own them please don't reply unless you too have questions about them.

Thanks for the help.

I've never owned the stuff but I've been to a few laser tag centers before and they're goddamn awesome.

I remember in the late 90s my parents bought me a laser tag set.

They had a gun and vest and were grey. Can't for the life of me think of what they were called but they were a blast. Only bad thing was the Vest on them was kind of clunky and the charge time for them was crazy long.

Thing about them is to make sure they are well made. Because the set I had took a beating fast.

Oh, right. I didn't even realise Light Strike was a particular brand of Laser Tag equipment, I thought you just meant laser tag in general. Now I feel stupid *derp*

No worries Bramble...at least once a year we take the students out to a laser tag place called Zap Zone and they have a ball with it. They have a sweet arena for playing.

This stuff, I don't know. It looks cool but I don't know how reliable the stuff is. This is the same company that made Paper Jamz guitars and I don't know anything about those either, other than I saw commercials.

And Chocolate I would bet we had the same stuff, my parents had bought us some grey little laser tag things too. You got a little pistol and a small front vest. We could shoot each other across the yard so that was cool.

I'm guessing at this point my room-mate or I will have to buy them to find out. Thankfully he's more interested in investing than I am, so we'll see what happens.

well you said it junior high right?

i think you should step it up and do airsoft

Well the thing about that would be the liability of it for the church if someone got hurt.

Easier for a parent to here little Jimmy got hurt when he tripped and fell playing laser tag then, little Jimmy got his eye shot out looking down the barrel of a airsoft gun.

Yeah, as fun and cool as air soft is, the liability is too great if someone gets hurt. It's not a safe viable option for what we want to do. Don't get me wrong I do love me some air soft.

Like I said before, I think either myself or my room mate will have to take the plunge and just buy one of these and see how they last. I know if I buy one I will push its durability to the limits because that is the big question. These seem like they could eat batteries for dessert which is my other big concern.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, and again if anyone has used the light strike guns please let your voice be heard!

Worse comes to worse we still get together with them and have epic Nerf wars, so if we don't buy any I won't lose any sleep over it. I should take a picture of my trunk, it makes me look like a Nerf arms dealer lol.

most of these laser tag things dont even use batteries

they usually have rechargeable battery packs

not sure if the ones youre looking at do though

Thats why you make them wear safety goggles.;)
