Quick question for those of you who know their way around firearms. I am looking for a cheap, accurate, and reliable firearm that would be capable of competing on the low end of .22 competitions. Nothing super fancy just something that shoots straight and doesn't cost $2000

Anyone have any suggestions? I have been looking a lot at rugers.

The problem here is you are looking for 'cheap and good'.

I can't honestly think of any criteria I would categorize with those two together for firearms and competition shooting.

My .308 with the scope was over $8,000, and that was two years ago. However, I know what I bought, accepted my fate for going broke and did it the right way. ;)

I'm not looking for something super amazing competition level. More local competition for enjoyment more then anything. People have pointed me to the Ruger Competition MkIII slab barrel for $650 new.

I have a Crosman V-350 with ball and notch sights that has always done everything I've ever needed it to. With the added advantage of being very quiet.

:glare:

I have an old bolt action Remington Model 33 from the early 1930's and it'll still shoot a third eye in a possum just fine.

It sounds silly to a lot of people but the most accurate consistently I have seen for long range and accuracy competition I have seen are some of the target Savage rifles especially the trigger which is second to none. Also Ruger does have some really good 22. LR rifles. If that will be your sole event.

One of my fav .22 is a Rugar 10-22, the one I use to have, had a folding stock, 2 30 round clips, 3X9 variable scope, and was a blast to shoot. all that and it was bought for like $350, bring me to tears that I no longer own it

Yeah I love my Rugar 10-22.

Digital DJ is quite the gun fanatic, maybe he could help you?

As much as I love edge gamers you should find a competition specific forum for the questions you are asking. I would point you in the right direction but I would similarly be answering questions from google which makes me no expert.
