THQ has confirmed that Crytek's UK-based studio is developing Homefront 2. / By Ian Miles Cheong

Crytek's UK-based studio formerly known as Free Radical (which developed the multiplayer in Crysis 2, and Time Splitters) has been confirmed as the developer for Homefront 2.

Taking over from the recently shuttered Kaos Studios, the Nottingham-based studio will take place after the events of the first Homefront, building upon the war story written by John Milius (Red Dawn, Conan the Barbarian, Apocalypse Now).

"We see Homefront as a really strong universe that has a lot of potential and that has been expertly created and marketed by THQ,? commented Crytek boss Cevat Yerli in the official press release.

"We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It?s really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way."

Homefront 2 is due for release in fiscal year 2014. No other details have been released at this point in time.

I actually enjoy Homefront's multiplayer. It's like CoD but it's more difficult, and it's got lots of toys to play around with.

I'm looking forward to it. I don't understand everyone's exaggerated negative attitude towards this game, like it ate their children or something.

could be interesting homefront one was alright but lacked alot of things and didnt deliver the hype they worked up

Due to my play style, I 99% of the time prefer Single players to Mulitplayers in games when they are released, This caused my dislike of Homefront.

It was really hyped up, and played well. The mechanics made it feel like [the story] was actually happening. But when it ended in [ending] i was so shocked and really sad.

The campaing, with breaks to make food, was a mere two hours long. From all the hype that it got - i was hoping for more.

Though i never did play the mulitplayer - i've heard good things about it.

hopefully 2 delivers

Being that it looks like its going to be released in 3 years means hopefully they put in 3 - 4 years worth of effort to make this one a lot better than the first one.

Oh, man I can't believe THQ closed down Kaos Studios and then announced a sequel to their game. The balls on that company.

We don't want Homefront 2....we would rather have Timesplitters 4. Free Radical almost had it finished, let Crytek UK do it!
