alright i am currently having a 5 mbit internet connection im usinga normal cable modem that plugs in by usb. Im sharing this net connection with my bro his is plugged in by some other cable cant remember the name. And his net is faster. But is it true that if buy a router and get the same cable as he has (think its called a net cable). My net would be faster because the net connection would be shared more evenly ?

is one using usb and the other the ethernet connection?
if so, yes, get a router.
Normally, the internet speeds should roughly be the same, however, there are a lot of factors, IE, cable length, driver settings, you name it, it could be an issue.
