I personally find this hard to believe. I think most of us with 460's/560's should be able to scrape by on max textures tbh, maybe turn down the particles a bit. I mean there is no way it can look better than the original Crysis, thats already photorealistic.

Plus ultra refers to everything maxed, 8AA, 16AF, DX 11. IMO, nothing more than 2AA is required in a well designed game (Crysis at 2AA has close to 0 jagged edges at 1080p)

Opinions guys?

Sure thing DICE I'll just go to the vault and chip some gold and drop another paycheck for an additional vid card. I'm sure there are some settings in the game that can be turned down that aren't necessary to get near optimal graphics when SLI mode isn't an option.

Optimal and Ultra are hardly the same thing. They've updated the article linked from the OP to note that the "recommended" settings (GTX 560 or 6950 for video) are for running the game at High presets, which is at least optimal I'd say.

I'll probably just play on low anyway, make sure i dont have to worry ;D

The sad truth is that I bought a GTX275 when Bad Company 2 came out. That was back in 2009. It almost feels like every time a Battlefield game comes out, I will have to dish out cash for a new card.

My new computer will have dual AMD 6990's, I'll be good ;)

Why 6990's? The new 7xxx series will be cheaper, and the 7970 will only draw about 150 watts of power. It will be twice as powerful as dual 6990's.

Anyway, I am pretty sure 460/560 and above can run BF3 at max TEXTURES, maybe even max on DX9-DX10. DX11 is the biggest FPS whore, so I think we should all just avoid that.

Series beat out the old series in single to single GPU performance they never beat out their old dual gpu cards. And theres not enough info on the 7000 series to determine that for most people with the 6990's the 7 series won't be that big enough of an upgrade to pay for it so soon.

From what i can tell Ultra is standing for the ultra settings with 8xAA, 16xAF, 1080p rez, with HBAO on, etc etc etc alot of stuff will get tweaked by the gamers like the bloom tweak for BC2 to make a big diff, plus running 8xAA at 1080p is just e-peen talk. 2-4 AA is more than enough for 1080p and for me in mp most of the time ill turn it off just for the performance boost. MOST performance draining settings are coming from dx11 and for good reason. For me ill run ultra in the SP-Co-op mode and High for MP (Seeing as how the SP-co-op uses better graphics in the first place anyway) I will help everybody and anybody when BF3 comes out with setting things up and getting the most for their money.

We will have to friends list, future savior of gaming. :)

To be honest, I am not really a big DX11 fan. The visual boost isn't there for me, I prefer to sit around at DX10, which is still amazing at 16AF.

Wait, so how will my 1gb 6870 fare?

Rather, how will my 1gb 4670 i'm currently using will fare lol. I got a 8800 i'll be using for the beta, but its funny knowing that, even though the requirements are becoming higher everyday, my 4670 still is useful.

I just pre-ordered the Limited Edition. That means I get the Beta two days earlier than everybody else. Suckas.

The difference between Ultra and High settings, in most games, is barely noticeable, if at all. It's mainly just for bragging rights. From what I've read, if your computer can handle BC2, it'll do just fine for BF3.

Just because a new game comes out does NOT mean you need to dish out money for a new card. Check to see if your card will handle the game first and if it's only 2 years old it should be able to handle it ;)

Meh, I have the Tier 1 version of MoH so I won't waste another 80 bucks on a EA game where their engine crashes every 14 hours xD

MY PC handles Bad Company 2 on max so well, I actually have to turn on V-Sync to avoid tearing xD
