BF3 Beta torrent!

No this isn't illegal, i just thought i would help people that didn't pre-order! you can download it now and pre-load it before the 29th so you'll avoid the rush!

Close Origin.
Download the .torrent file.
Run it under your favorite torrent program.
Once downloaded, unzip file and upload the folder to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 Open Beta\
Open Origin.
Enter Key to Origin.
Once authenticated, it will start "installing" BF3 Beta.
It will find the files on the folder and if there are no new updates, the game will be ready to play.
If there are updates, let it update, then start when ready.
If there are issues with the install, remove the folder from the Program files folder and restart origin and load the game through Origin download.

I had pre-downloaded the BF3 data through BitTorrent but their instructions said to save it on "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 Beta Trial" - instead you should save as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 Open Beta".

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not haha, P2P or peer to peer is not illegal when used in the correct manner

It is Legit. You will still need a Beta Key. We're just hoping to alleviate load on EA's servers

I remember the days when P2P was used to allow you to get files from companies when you lost the originals now kids have turned it into some sad "Lets get music for free" craze

Seeing as how its files that you can download from EA servers directly just in a faster way cause of all the clogged bandwidth I would say the people are doing them a favor.

Cause in point downloading WoW patches isn't illegal (using torrents) and in fact encouraged by blizzard, in the end they don't have to pay for that bandwidth. It's just got a bad view in the public eye due to dumb kids doing dumb things.

Torrenting isn't illegal (As Crushed said). The file is available to the public, you do not need to purchase anything to get the beta, so it is nothing more than pre-loading a free trial.

Also steam can suck it, people are reporting speeds of 4.5-5.0mb/s speed downloads thru origin

The correct path seems to be C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3 Open Beta\

I installed the torrent into the other path and when I went to install the BF3 beta in Origin, it started downloading files to that folder instead of the "Origin Games" folder.

Steam has these speeds too, if your internet doesn't suck.

47.5MB/s down, 22.7MB/s up....steam still is junk there servers get crowded as hell and then are super slow

I got an average of about 8.0 MB/sec on Origin. I've never gotten near that on Steam. I also peaked at about 8.7 MB/sec I think (Might be higher wasn't watching the download).

Don't know if this is exact i installed using the original folder location and it worked...maybe servers changed things?

I'm getting between 220k and 320k on that torrent, took a while for it to build up speed. I would hold off running it until you have confirmed others have been able to successfully use their keys with it.

got it downloaded and unzipped it to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3 Open Beta\. When i try to run the application it opens origin and says that the game appears to be not installed please install or try relaunching the game. any suggestions? started to download the game through origin unless someone has a fix so i dont have to wait another 6 hours to get the beta going.
