First off all like most or almost all strategic games Coh has a lot off mods, those mods always give an extra dimension to the original game, or at least we hope.
Unfortunatly not all modding projects get actually finished and some are just not worth downloading.
For Coh the following mods are my personal favorites, wich doesn't mean their arn't other mods out there offcourse, for the majority off the mods i download (not only for coh) i use the well know website off http://www.moddb.com/.

Company of Heroes: Eastern Front!
Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding a full Soviet faction packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.
We are constantly working to improve Eastern Front; our dedicated and experienced development team has worked on the mod for three years, and we don't intend to stop yet. The future will bring new campaigns, new reward units, further game mechanics and an overall better experience, as well as the rugged Ostheer - a unique new Axis faction who will be designed from the ground up to counter the Soviets.

Company of Heroes: Blitzkrieg mod
FEATURES:
works with Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts, Tales of Valor or any combination of these three!
a much more realistic Weapon damage system (particularly the damage & penetration powers of tank guns)
works with Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts, ales of Valor or a combination of any of these
many new skins for infantry and tanks (and wrecks) also including many of my own made tank skins
many new units for all factions
greatly changed & expanded Commander Trees
many new abilities
new sounds
a total of 32 new recommended maps included
historical correct vehicle & turret traverse speeds
more realistic infantry weapon system
more detailed tank descriptions (armament & armour)
increased line of sight & weapon ranges
increased zoom out
removed team colours
removed transparency effects
Important note: this mod is very challenging! only advised for hardcore coh players

Normandy '44: European Theatre
Normandy '44: European Theater combines a higher level of realism with a more elaborate doctrine system, which incorporates almost 50 different military units that took part in the Normandy campaign. This spectrum ranges from battalions of free Polish and French units serving under the main allied armies to volunteers from the Eastern Front that served in the German Wehrmacht. This is only a small portion of the doctrine variety however, as we feature numerous well known units of all factions as well. The mod also features numerous new abilities and custom made units each with a completely revamped size and structure. Between custom made units and structures with historically correct skins, Normandy '44 offers over 150 NEW UNITS, making for an almost endless variety of different scenarios and unit actions. Combined these factors provide for an experience unlike any other mod for COH.
