I haven't played the first game yet, something I've been meaning to do now that I have a PS3, but I've heard nothing but good about both so I still count myself excited.

Yeah, but the game is the spiritual successor to Demon Souls...which actually carries a lot weight. Shellshock 2 was the successor to Shellshock...there was no way it would be good.

That and most review sites are showering the game with near perfect scores.
