LONGOOOOOOOOOOOO

For all of you un-MERICANs who don't watch baseball, you missed out.

Both the NL (Braves + Cardinals) and AL (Red Sox + Rays) wild card contenders were tied coming into tonight's respective ball games. Braves and Red Sox have had a terrible collapse this month, allowing the Cardinals, who were 8 games back, and the Rays, who were 9 games back, to catch up and win their way into the playoffs. Cardinals stomped the Astros (lolAstros) and it was up to the Braves to win for a sudden death playoff but they fell short to the Phillies in 13 innings.

Meanwhile in the AL, the Red Sox, who were up 3-2 against the Orioles, lost in the bottom of the 9th. This meant it was up to the Rays, who were battling the Yankees in the 12th inning, to make their own destiny. And then...LONGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO goes deep and the Rays win their way into the postseason.

THE RAYS WIN IT!!!!! That was a amazing game! Longoria's Jazz hands after his last homerun of the regular season.. That was funny.

By far the best games i have ever seen! I thought my first Cubs game at Wrigley was epic these 4 games i watched just made me love baseball even more!

My rays will be winning the series this year. Joe Madden should defiantly get manager of the year.

What's baseball? Oh, are you referring to that awful, horrible game that ripped out my soul and stomped all over it for the entire month of September? I remember when I used to follow a team called the "Braves" or something like that, but that was so long ago...

I remember their moronic manager named "Frediot" or something like that. He had a really great line-up, but matched them up in such a way that logical run-producing through sabermetric calculations was nearly impossible. Especially when it came to deciding who would pinch hit. Guys with proven track records would sit idly buy while career minor leaguers struck out on three pitches to Joe Schmoe and his 70-MPH hanging meatball of a curve. Frediot also had an incredible bullpen, but worked the young, talented arms to death and was left with nothing but washed up has-beens who where there for nothing more than "veteran experience".

It's hard to remember such a tumultuous part of my life...ah! I remember that we also at least had respectable fans with a fair amount of common sense. At least enough to not do something like run on the field...

Anyways, at least it is football season now, America's true game! I haven't had my heart ripped out in that sport since 2003, when the Patriots took a proverbial dump on my hopes and dreams! It's been a long night, so I'm going to go pour myself a nice glass of Cam-Berry Kool-Aid and hit the hay.

the quote that describes my view of baseball

-What are you talkin' about, baseball is a girl's game? The Red Sox has a guy that pitches the ball over 90 miles per hour!
-- Who cares? All that means is that he can have a wank faster than you.

-Green street hooligans

football talk is not allowed in a baseball thread look it up bro! Football might be the most popular in America but baseball will ALWAYS be America's past time.

Great post and a great start to the playoffs.

I am really excited about the upcoming series. I am looking at:

Rangers over Rays
Tigers over Yankees

Phillies over St. Louis
Arizona over Milwaukee

Rangers over Tigers
Phillies over Arizona

Phillies over Rangers

full disclosure, I am a lifelong Texas Rangers fan
