Processor help needed

@ OP you can always re-use a CPU in another board granted the CPU works, you have the right socket on your new motherboard, and you have Thermal paste.

Also the Phenom II X4 965, really great AMD processor for games, my father has one, doesn't game, cause he's getting old now (haha, he doesn't want to admit it), has dual 4870's and all he does is email and watch DVD/Blu-Ray's now.

My Intel Core i7 920 OC'd works just fine regardless of the socket changes and such. Mainly its the x58 chip set I like since it can tri SLI/quadFire... anyways both work just fine for games, I like my Intel for the fact I compute a lot more than just games.

I will say 8.3Ghz OC'd is pretty good but they'll last for what like a week if that. Maybe one day before I'll die I hope to see 10Gh/z stock with 16-32 Cores... That'll be the day....

Used intel pretty much my whole life except when AMD dominated AKA the BF1942 days, If they miss this release yes i'm gonna drop them as there putting the FX label on the processors it's been long enough and i have no doubt that the FX series will match clock for clock so i have no REAL doubts this battle between the two is gonna get good.

I'll defend both till the end of days but 90% of the performance for 60% of the price can't be beat no matter how you slice it. Just sick and tired of people wanting AMD to fail when there is no benefit for nobody but intel if that happens, saying it wont match clock for clock or its being sold for cheaper so it's gonna perform worse is such bull, you don't know i don't know nobody knows but AMD.

It's time for a change, for me if AMD is gonna bank their FX brand on this processor it HAS to win or i'll lose all faith in the company, you never bring out your top "mark" and then fail. Just like wall street i'm not gonna keep giving you my money if your just gonna piss the money away.

Seeing how long it's been for bulldozer to release if it comes out and then fails just i'm just gonna stop caring and then AMD can depend on their opteron's to keep that company afloat cause right now in the mainstream/gaming market there on the edge.


EITHER way we're gonna end this here cause it's getting old going back and forth on something that's not even out yet, review kits are on their way so i'm assuming what? 3-4 more days?

Lol, that was achieved on Liquid Hydrogen. Try a matter of hours if you keep pouring on the LH2. Way too expensive for anything more than a quick suicide run.

It got derailed because the question was answered days ago, and now we turned it into a fun arguement.

and smoke had it at 8.3 for a matter of seconds, literally just long enough to press F7

Also he was using Liquid Nitrogen, where as macci and crew were using helium. I give smoke more props here. Coming within 100MHz of the number one, with less resources, and without cherry parts.

But AMD is loosing now, so if you were as unbiased as you say you are, you would agree that 2500K/2600K offers the best price/performance ratio right now.

AMD sold FX parts at rediculous margins too (*cough*FX-60). Just because they have been the "value" option for the last few years doesn't mean they always will be cheaper. Again, they are a corporation, they want profits more than anything.

With helium, it is more of a cost issue. Due to a worldwide shortage of helium, prices are through the roof. Helium costs hundreds of dollars per liter, while nitrogen can be bought for less than $1 a liter.
