Jail and Freekillers

As some of you may know, I am a constant visitor on the jail server. For those that play jail you know how annoying a freekiller can be. Lately, I have been running into an increasingly large amount of freekillers, they do anything from kill you while on st, to blatantly ignore warden's orders and shoot, or even the most annoying, kill large amounts of people because they think it's funny. The purpose of this article is to try to discourage people to freekill, as it is probably the most annoying thing to happen in jail. On the topic of freekilling another thing that bugs me in jail is when I stop to type and am killed. 15 seconds people! The easiest way to aviod this mistake is to type !jailrules as it will tell you all you need to know about the lovely game of jail. If you experience a freekill make sure to report it to the admin as it will definitely help get the person warned, revoked, or maybe even banned if it keeps happening.Besides the uncommon freekills jail is probably the most fun thing to do on CSS in my opinion. I really hope you all try jail out once, because you will probably end up loving it right at the very start.

On topic:

From my experience, the vast majority of ACCIDENTAL free kills happen due to lack of attention. People fail to pay attention to warden's orders, and instead of asking what the orders were or if some person is ST, they skip straight to shooting. Most free kills can be avoided by simply ASKING BEFORE YOU SHOOT.

Also, there is not a set 15 second to type rule, but as Ill Legend said...

Keep the fun of the game in mind.

There is no specific time, but you need to take some things into consideration. Are they just trying to be an ass and intentionally delay? If so, kill them. If they are legitimately typing, give them some time to do so. Use your best judgement, and think about it if you were a terrorist and typing, would you want to be killed instantly for stopping to type?

Accidental freekills WILL happen, but if people paid attention or were a lot more lenient (not shooting Ts for moving an inch or turning, because realisticly, how is that going to get you as a CT killed?), the majority of accidental free kills would be eliminated.


Edit: also CTs need to watch their fire, and instead of spraying through a T, they should burst fire and aim low. Burst or single shot firing an assault rifle is a lot more accurate from a distance then shooting a bunch of rounds into a mob(reducing the chance of free damaging/free killing and increasing the chance of killing the rebel swiftly). Also, if a T is rushing you when he shouldn't be, aim at his feet. If you shoot him in the chest, your bullets will go straight through him into innocents behind him.

Yes, unfortunately, freekills will always happen in jail. While some freekillers can be dealt with immediately because it is obvious they are intentionally killing masses of people for fun, others need to be taken care of differently. The unintentional freekillers need to be warned not to freekill and to pay attention to orders more, and if they fail to do that more than once or twice more appropriate action can be taken. But as I said, it's jail, and no matter how hard we try, we can't stop all freekillers, and as Reddragon said, when one's taken care of, more will come. It's basically a cycle.

I don't think the eGO forums are the right place to post this, jails jail, freekills are going to happen but admins are trying to stop it. It does help bring it to ppls attention more, but there is no way to get around freekills (the best way to avoid freekills is by joining ct ).

I have become a lot more lenient since I started playing jail a few months ago. There are some things that still have me on edge, like when a T has a gun or is rushing me, but I usually do not just light them up right away. I will usually try and keep the game fun for others, and as long as they don't run away too far or stab somebody, I'll give them a chance to get back to following orders. As a result, I have a lot more fun in jail, and I'm sure others do too compared to a strict warden that kills all the Ts out of cell block with confusing orders. If you were killed by him you know who I'm talking about.

Personally I think the forums is a good place for this. Free kills happen, but they shouldn't be happening for the reasons I stated. People should read the forums and take an active role in trying to prevent themselves from free killing others, as it will make jail more fun.

Welcome to jail! Enjoy your stay! While freekilling may be a problem on jail, it always will be and I'm sorry to say but making a forum post about it won't help. Just let the ingame admins do their jobs.

As everyone already made clear, freekilling won't stop - nor will it decrease if no changes are made. The best thing YOU can do is to prevent yourself from being freekilled by rebelling. If that's not your thing, then don't draw attention to yourself and follow the orders to the exact letter - don't try to be a smart ass by going through loop holes in orders because that will just get you killed, sadly CT's will shoot first and think later. That should atleast let you survive for longer than 60 seconds.

Or you could just incorporate /slay so CT's think first, shoot later. It won't get rid of freekillers since accidents happen (crossfire) but it will reduce it by a massive proportion.

Well mistakes happen in the Jail Server, and there always will be mistakes. We're only human in the end, best to send any and all freekill complaints to the Admins in server, of course I will say though that the Admins don't always catch every freekill, let alone can make sure if the freekill in question was really a freekill and not you or someone else raging that they cannot continue playing till next round.

Again, best way to handle it is to report the situation to the Admins in server, and if they're none, to any of the Admins in Steam / Vent. We're here to help, even though you and many other people cannot see what we do (Admin Chat) doesn't mean we are not aware of the situation.

To be honest, the freekillers probably won't visit this thread. That said, freekillers are usually accidents, but it always will happen and there have been a decent amount of forum posts about it.
