Hey Fellas,

I just got a brand new ASUS laptop and I love everything about it, except for one thing. Every time I type, my hands bump the touch pad and my mouse moves, causing my typing to stop, and I have to re-select the field I want to type in. Does anyone know if there is a lock button? I cannot find it and google didn't help me..

ASUS Notebook PX X54

Thanks,

This is caused by the touchpad's tap-click feature, which some people like to have because it's just faster/simpler than taking your finger away from the touchpad to hit the mouse button. Of course, this is a problem for people like you and me who rest their hands nice and flat on the laptop while they type, causing their hands to touch the pad and have it interpreted as a mouse click. This used to torment me while playing League of Legends.
To fix this, my laptop came preloaded with the Sony Vaio control center software which includes an interface which allows me to make these sorts of adjustments to the hardware, and if your Asus has similar software, it might be easy enough to try and find the solution in there. But I found that if you just search "mouse" in your Start menu, you'll find "change mouse click settings" is one of the options. That will bring up the Mouse Properties window. There is a tab in that window labelled "Tapping", and there you will find the check box you are seeking.
From a fellow laptop use who struggled with the same issue for far too long. :D
